Coating Question for Detailers

CQuartz, CQuartz UK, and Finest are all different formulas that contain unique mixtures of different ingredients, and therefore entirely different products... I assume the person saying they were "almost identical" is not an authorized Finest installer. If you want more information on how CQuartz Finest differs from either of the consumer options, you can contact CarPro-US directly or an authorized Finest installer in your area. FWIW warranties on all coatings are pretty much useless, so do not let the effect your decision at all.

If you search for an article called "Coating Warranties…Valuable?" and "The Truth Behind Wild Coating Claims" on the Detailed Image Blog you can find more information that may be helpful to you.

No I would use glosscoat.cq is tacky and oily and conditions have to be dead on.its a good product but not for beginners. Pinnacle black label is super easy as well.

CQUK can be a royal PITA to apply, at least for me. But it's still the coating I use most since it seems to protect the vehicles better and lasts longer than many other consumer grade coatings I use and have tested. I'm putting CQUK on a new dodge 3500 today and it is a lot of work no doubt.
 
I've tried a lot of them and being mobile there is 3 coatings that are promblem free in south Florida weather.gtech Serem pinnacle and Glosscoat.Love the Glosscoat so easy to use and pretty durable.

You are right, he is not authorized. I thought so but he is not. I was reading on the Finest website and it said that it should last a minimum of 2 years. I think I might be more inclined for Finest.

Question

Is coating the whole wheel worth the extra cost? Most include only the face of the wheel only.

Also, is it possible to skip the wheels and ask for a discount?

I have a Lexus ISF, and the big brakes put off a LOT of brake dust... so for me, coating the wheels makes my life a lot easier when it comes to maintenance. I don't need fancy wheel cleaners, just soap and water and a few minutes of my time and my wheels look great again. With that being said, if your vehicle does not put off a lot of brake dust, or you regularly use a quality sealant, a coating on the wheels may not be worth your time/money.

Most detailers, myself included, will do a wheel coating as an add-on service. We have an option for faces only, or to remove the wheels and coat the entire wheel inside and out.

Every market is going to be different when it comes to pricing...

I am not sure where you are located, but for a mid-sized sedan... a one-step paint correction, CQuartz Finest, DLUX on Wheel Faces, and windshield coating would come to $1200 from me (no sales tax). So you're quote is very, very close to what I personally charge.
 
What Red said. Im sure I speak for all Finest installers when I say that we polish the head and taillights and coat as well as part of the Finest package.

And $1235 is a good price for what you were quoted.
 
Between CQUK and Finest, can anyone tell me the difference? Why Finest is more expensive? I know Finest is part Silica and Titanium but what does that means, how does that translates to paint protection?

There's seems to be no clear answer, at least, I haven't found one. Nor any detailer I have spoken to have had a real answer. They simply say, is part x and part y, a completely different product. Yeah, but that does tell me anything. Is like they memorized a response to a question.

finest has more silica in it compared to its sister brand there for when it cures it's more harder of a coating.

Again, I will recommend you contact Corey at CarPro US for the absolute best, most informative answer... this will remove all bias from the answer as he is not trying to sell you a product like your detailer may or may not be, and it will take all guess work out of the answer since he is the only distributor of Finest in the US and is of course an expert on all CQuartz products, so while many AGO members may have read things, most of them have no experience comparing CQ, CQUK, and CQ Finest like Corey has.
