Coating Question for Detailers

It's my understanding that no matter what you have on your car, you will get fallout and road film on your car. The benefit the coatings provide is the protection they provide to the paint from those things. You can be more aggressive with chemically removing them (iron-x, etc) without needing to reapply the coating when you're done.

Mechanical decontamination like clay always presents the risk of inducing marking, but now there's essence plus (I believe) to help repair a coating if you do get minor swirling.

Just my understanding on the subject, hope this helps.
 
Ok, so I can use the Iron X to remove the iron deposits without affecting the coating (no clay). So what about using Reload. The coating last 2 years (CQ Finest) and the reason I have found (have been told) is that the hydrophobic property diminishes but the coating is there, but if I use Reload to add that property again why do I have do recoat after 2 years?

Who's saying you have to recoat after 2 years? CQuartz Finest is "warrantied" for 2 years, but it can last much longer than that. It's been on the roof of my truck for 2.5 years now and until recently the truck sat outside 24/7, rarely gets washed, and has never had reload or any other topper applied. When well cared for it will last well beyond 2yrs and if you're topping it, then it's only going to help the coating last even longer.

The above being said, most end up coming back for a recoat after 2-3 years because they either failed to maintain the vehicle correctly or they have accumulated light swirls and want them removed.
 
Hey, I was browsing the store and found some spray on nano coatings. (Pinnacle Black) are they easier to apply than the CQ/CQUK etc? Meaning, I did not see anything on the description about not letting it get wet after applying the product like CQ that you must keep it dry for 24hr.
 
I've never applied a coating like CQ or Optimum which are wiped on with an applicator, but I have used the McKee's 37 coating which sprays on like the PBL. I found application to be very quick and easy.

While it doesn't specify how long to keep it away from moisture while curing, I try to keep my cars dry for 8~12 hours regardless of whether I've used a coating or a wax. I could be overkill, but I just want to give the product time to set up properly without the threat of rain or heavy dew.
 
Is just that I don't have a garage and keeping it away from moisture is impossible. But if these spray nano coating don't need a 24hr dry timeframe it might be the choice for me. Will be sending some emails to see what's the proper way to apply it.
 
I don't have a garage and I apply it in direct sunlight, same for all my clients. We don't have a moisture issue here but from what I understand you can drive it once done, don't get it wet for 24hrs. And no washing for a week
