Blackfire BlackICE ...is it worth the $95.00?

What competitions are Meguiars winning? I have a ton of car show trophies using nothing more than turtle wax or whatever other cheap consumer level crap I had on hand.

Hopefully that won't derail the thread.

if its anything like the souvern or synergy one benefit is you can get as many as thirty applications from one can. how many can u get with the collinite?

After 6 applications (12 coats) on my Ram truck and 4 applications on the wife's Wrangler (8), My bottle of 845 is just a tad over half full.

So 20 applications of 40 coats.

lighting conditions factor in to though...
That's for sure!!

Look what the prevailing lighting
conditions did for a vehicle wearing
an LSP (FK-1000P) that cost only
$17.99---and that was for an entire
15 oz. tub that'll probably last 'til I
leave this ol' World behind.

this is after a wash a couple weeks ago right before it rained, ill get some better ones

Was sitting at Bryans desk at ag ready to buy the combo but decided on uber instead.I have so many waxes and sealants..I will profit more on a simple coating than a wax and sealant combo.

No flash, taken indoors, 60 watt single bulb in garage.

what i meant was the sun is a lot brighter in the first blackfire pics you posted then it was in the souveran pictures. in my pictures there is zero sun. the cars look a lot better when the sun is out then when its not. your pics look great but my point is its not fair to compare two pictures side by side that were taken in different conditions like the blackfire - souveren pics you posted

Been reading up on Blackfire BlackIce wax. The hype is impressive. Have also seen positive reviews from a few years back. Any current users of the product care to comment on its performance, compared to the advertising claims? I do realize the subjectivity that can come into play on this sort of thing, but in general, is is worth $95.00?

Obviously it comes down to personal preference, but I am in the "no" camp.

While I could have spent 4x (or more) than I did on the wax I used here on my Durango, I seriously doubt that I would have been 4x happier with the results.

I have used Black Ice and its an excellent wax, on any darker color for sure. Yes, a jar of this wax will last a long time. Thin is in like with most waxes. Thin application and it was also very easy to remove. It actually dries a light gray, not a dark black. I would say realistic durability at 3 months.

Is it worth it? I suppose we could all shop at Walmart, buy their OTC products, have our cars looking good. But do we? No, we spend our money here, at Autogeek. For Instance, a wax like Souveran is so luxurious and smells so good, its well worth the $95. This wax is different, it does not have that luxurious feeling, and it does not particularly smell good, but it leaves a great shine.

Reload and bf crystal seal mixed together give a awesome shine.Did a 53 Eldorado today and tried that combo and the color was so reflective and deep.Surrpassed gloss coat by far,was going to gloss coat the entire car but instead I tried those 2 products stacked together and the shine was insane compared to the front fender that I coated with opti gloss.

Everyone here is different and open to trying new products. I personally wouldn't spend that much, unless it washed the car, polished and waxed it for me. Prep is the key and while some give the car a different appearance, nothing to me is worth $100.

It depends for me if there was something else more specific about the wax. I bought PBL Synergy and that was quite expensive since I was paying Canadian dollars, about 250 before taxes which tacks on another 13% here. For me personally, and I can't speak for anyone else, it was worth it because it was a great wax to use, the durability on it is quite good. It was smooth to apply, easy to take off. Straight forward instructions, and it combined ceramic as well as carnauba so it stands up to the winter weathers we have here which is basically what I thought salt lake city was like when I was 8. The cost of a wax has to correlate in some way to how it looks and how it protects. For me, Synergy looked great and protects extremely well. It's not necessarily about getting 250 dollars worth of product per say, that can get you enough Collinite or something to wax every day for the rest of your life. It's more about getting 250 dollars worth of satisfaction out of it, since for so many of us it's a stress reliever and a hobby. It depends, only you can say whether or not it's worth the money. It could be worth it to everyone here but it might not be worth it to you. The only way you can tell, especially if you do this for a hobby is to buy it and see if you like it, and if it adds up to what you believe is worth it or not. For example (And again all in Canadian Dollars) 250 dollars for Synergy is worth it for me but 123 for Souveran or 250 for Fuzion is not worth it for me. The reason being? One is a show wax and while it looks great, if I had to wax every month or two, then I would just wax with something more durable like Synergy every month or two. Fuzion was not worth it for me because for the same price, I wanted something more durable, not because Fuzion doesn't look amazing on some of the cars displayed on the forums.

What mix ration did you use with Reload and BF Crystal Seal? 1:1?

In general, I cannot see myself getting BlackICE. I have Collinite 915, 845 and 476, Mothers Carnauba Paste, Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid and the new Spider one. I suspect BlackICE is comparable to the new Dodo Juice and at $35-$40 it's a bargain compared to BlackICE. I got the Dodo Spider for no special reason, money burning a hole I guess. But I have Supernatural Hybrid and would put that up against BlackICE any day of the year.

But it's a "hybrid montan sealant wax". Whatever the f that is.

It means that it has natural and synthetic mix of waxes and sealant (polymers).

Noted - thanks for the correction.

Nevertheless, is it any better than something much less expensive? That's the question. Looks gorgeous in custmsprty's photo, but there's probably a lot of high quality polishing under that, and I wonder if it would be the same with 845...

Nothing personal there, just wonder sometimes why prices are what they are and what you really get for that extra money.

To a trained eye, it may look different but not necessarily better or worse - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Story of the consumer market we live in. If I drive a 50k car and decide to spend 100.00 on wax to protect

Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Autogeekonline mobile app

Exactly, if enough people buy a $95 wax the price is techically justified since there is a market and accepted price point.

synergy was worth it for me too, makes the paint look like glass more then any other wax ive used including souvern.
