Hello Autogeek,

I have been out the detailing game for a while. I dont know what is popular right now but I am looking for a trim coating that will keep the trim looking new.

Thanks in advance.

Feels good to be back. Hopefully I remember some or the old memebers.

I really like the one offered by Blackfire. BLACKFIRE Total Trim & Tire Sealant

It may seem a little expensive, but a little bit goes a VERY long way. I don't use anywhere near the amount they list in the directions. It provides a "like new" appearance to the trip and I get months of durability out of it. I've only used it on trim, so I can't say how it holds up on tires.

Blackfire trim sealant which I just used looks great so far and lasts a long time from what I've heard, we'll see.

Wolfgang trim sealant as well comes highly recommended

It hold up pretty well on tires.....but trim is where you really notice it. Don't be put off by the price...a little goes a long way

There are many trim sealants and dressings. They all look good on application, but lack durability. If your looking for a trim "coating" try Car Pro Dlux.

i like it to it might be better then wolfgang for me, makes the trim darker. anyone know if you can put a coat of blackfire over a coat of wolfgang?

Thank you guys for the suggestions.

I was looking more of a coating than a sealant. I want to use it on brand new trim.

I was thinking car pro dlux or Gtechniq C4.

What works best?

Both are good, but I also use Dlux on new headlights and wheels.

I agree. Can't go wrong with either one on trim.

GTeqniq 4 Trim Sealant lasts at least 6-7 months on a car in southern Ontario Canada.

I put it on my trim 6 months ago and it still looks like new.

Must remove from surrounding paint, but other than that really great product.

A very little goes a long way.

I just bought some DLux. Same performance as C4, but a better value. However, both have a 1 year self-life, so that came as a bit of a disappointment.

Cover the top with Saran Wrap and it will help seal out the air and last longer. Do not over tighten the plastic cap as it may crack.

Although it looks nice and last long, I never really enjoyed it in terms of application. It would streak and appear splotchy no matter how many times I used it. If it wasn't for that I would have used it more.

Really? I didn't have any issues. Using the regular 303 on trim I've had some issues, but not with the trim product. I've actually only used it on a couple vehicles so far. Have you had that problem on several different vehicles??

Yeah I had the same issue on both of my personal cars and on the trim on my brother's girlfriends corvette. It looks good when it goes on with no streaks and does last long. But the splotchy/streaky appearance is what keeps me away from using it.

Hopefully I'll continue to have success using it. It's definitely one of the best values for a longer lasting product.

I checked on shelf life of C5 (not C4) and GTechniq said if properly sealed and kept out of direct sunlight would last indefinitely.

I think both are clear colour, so as long as look clear, should be good.

I contacted GTechniq Service direct, so you should too, just to double check the C4.
