Review: Poorboy's World Super Slick & Wax Car Shampoo & Bio-Degradable All Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser

Like many I have been skeptical of using a soap with wax. Some say it works great, other say it's a waste, so I was of course non-plussed by the whole debate. But, like Trhland, I'm a car soap addict and I like to try different ones. So, I bought a bottle of the PB SS & Wax.

Review

My car was not very dirty, it rained twice this week, but both days it was in the garage. I washed it last week so it only had a week's worth of road dust.

First I started with the wheels. My wheels were not very dirty. It seems like the PB Wheel Sealant is holding up well and helping to keep my wheels from getting really dirty.

Not too Dirty Wheels:

Tools for the wheels: EZ Brush, black Schmitt and a Meguiar's Tire brush.

I poured some PB SS & W in a bucket and added the water. A nice head of foam appeared making me think it was time for a beer. But I pressed on! I used the PB Bio-Degradable All Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser (PB APC) on the wheel wells and tires.

I tried the PB APC diluted 50/50 and straight. I did not notice a discernible difference between the mixes but then the wheel wells were not very dirty so I will have to experiment another day.

The soap was great. It cleaned up the wheels nicely. I assume however that any wax left behind will dissipate as soon as I drive the car more than a few miles.

For washing the car I used: PB SS & W, AG Foam Gun, White/Yellow Shmitt, Black Shmitt, Leaf Blower with Air Wand attachment.

The soap made a decent foam, nothing like DP Extreme Foam and less than the he PB Super Slick Shampoo. I also noticed that the soap seemed to break-down faster. However, it was very slick and had good cleaning ability. The thing that struck me the most was that the leaf blower took the water off easier that it ever has before. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think the wax portion of the soap made the water roll off with the air blower more efficiently. I did not have to use a guzzler or even an MF towel afterwards!

I finished with a QD of Clearkote QuikShine and a Cobra Jr. MF.

Conclusions:

I really like the PB SS & Wax. I think it worked great on a car that was not very dirty and it left a nice clean surface. I would not use this soap if I were going to clay and polish the car. But for a weekly wash this seems like a great soap to use.

The jury is still out on the PB Bio-Degradable All Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser. Since the wheel wells were not very dirty I was not able to really test this product. It seemed to work fine mixed 50/50. I'm eager to try it again.

I also wash the wheels with the same car shampoo I use with the car itself (Megs Gold Class), is this ok or should I use a dedicated wheel cleaner?

Looks good! When are you going to try out the Surf City wash?

Bonifax, I think that you can use the same shampoo if you have some sort of sealant on the wheels. I've noticed that once the wheels have been waxed it takes very little to clean them. Starting from scratch will require some wheel cleaner. That's my take on it.

Nice review Reddwarf, car looks great!
I have a follow up question. What is on your croc's? :D We don't have many people around here on the farm that wear them. I can't tell what is on them, it must be some new style.

Bonifax, I agree with Pauly. Using soap is fine. If the wheels are really dity go to a cleaner made for wheels. I like the P21S Gel or the PB Wheel Cleaner if they are really dirty.

Pauly, Thanks. I'll have to buy some Surf City to try.

Tonya, the things on my Crocs are called Jibbitz, although I've been know to call them gibblets ;). My wife loves to buy the Jibbitz. I have a hammer, drill, Jaguar face, Jaguar paw, and other stuff. She has a bunch of ones on hers as does our 6 year old.

Thanks for the review :). Super slick and wax seems like an interesting product. BTW your Jaguar is looking insanely wet!

Thanks Klumzy, the funny thing is my last wax application was a long time ago. That look is mostly due to the PB SS&W + Clearkote Quik Shine. I haven't waxws in a while because I need to take the car in to the body shop to get some work done. I hope to get it in soon as I'm itching to put on a coat of Souveran.

Trhland, thanks fellow car shampoo addict!

The Jag looks great..Thanks for the review

Thanx, so that's the reason why I've never bought a dedicated wheel cleaner because I wash my cars once a week at least, but anyway I'll buy a wheel cleaner just in case.

Your Jag looks great! Nice write-up/review too.
Jag going to the body shop? Is that from the garage door incident?

Indeed it is. I still have not fixed that. Good memory!

Jag looks real good and thanks for the review, I'm still trying to find my permaShampoo.
