Glass Cleaner

Have used a plethora of glass cleaners in past, aside from Stoners Invisible Glass, all came up wanting once the sun hit at just 'that' angle, Stoners a bit less.

Tried Sonax the other day, using some brand of waffle weave glass towels.

1. Did 1/2 of windshield/rear window at a time
2. Did *not* use liberally as intructions stated for first pass, but a practical amount of 'enough'
3. For second pass with fresh towel, merely moistened towel EVENLY with a small bit of cleaner and kinda 'buffed' the section I just did.
4. Third pass with fresh towel just buffed section lightly.

When all was said and done, windows were clean and streak free and i did not need anger-management therapy when the sun caught it at just 'that' angle.

Skimped a bit on side windows with flipping towel to fresh section but all in all, 6 towels for windshield, 6 for back window 5 for all side windows combined. Lotta towels for sure but at least none of them got tossed 8n the bushes in anger. Thinking that maybe when I used less towels and more product, even flipping towels to fresh section would drag a little cleaner residue for final/next buff onto the glass from folded edge of towel.

Sounds a bit involved but actually pretty quick, just a lotta towels.

Sonax is the best cleaner I used. I use about 500 dollars worth of it every year. I use 4 waffle Korean brand towels after a wash.

Well, thanks again. I thought I was done, but now I 'need' to check out some other products. I have never been on a forum that ends up costing so much! No problem though. I have to make up for 40 years of washing my cars with Dawn and a truck scrubbing brush. And, my wife remains happy as long as I do her car first.

Hahaha thats funny man, good luck and try the sonax.

Have any of you tried to use 30% ipa as a glass cleaner? Any thoughts about it?

Man that sounds like a lot of work to clean glass. I use poorboy's and one towel and does the job just fine. I buy it by the gallon. I used to use it inside and out, but I recently picked up a bottle of OPT glass clean and protect for the outside to try out and that one works pretty well too. I think I rather the poorboy's tho.

No kidding. Lol.

I went outside just now, sprayed my windshield with Megs D114 and used that squeegee you see on top of my roof. I did both the windshield and the rear window in about a minutes time and the resluts are absolutely perfect. No towels. Lol.

Now I'm gonna drive to the supermarket, grab a gallon of OJ, and do a quik waterless wash in the parking lot with 2 microfibers + a waffle weave.
I can do it in peace without the everyday people walking by. Lol.

Tried sonax the blue and the green type, found them to clean good but! when it came to lighting up the windows with

a LED torch/Flashlight you could see all the smear type stuff, ''Only when lit by led light NOT the sunlight

I used a 3 step process, 1xmegs glass cloth spray a little, buff with a second megs glass cloth, 3rd with a dry waffle MF.

until my arm fell off........... and still the smear So Sonax no good IMO

Poorboysworld i have found a lot more easy to work with, and that's for me what it boils down to.

What works best! and how easy it is to you.

30% IPA should work just fine. I have a mixture in a bottle right now that is approximately 35% IPA and it cleans glass as well as any dedicated glass cleaner I've ever tried. What I've found is that using several towels makes far more of a difference than the product used, especially on particularly dirty windows. It's easy to spread oily film you've just wiped off onto your towel back onto the window if you're not constantly flipping to a fresh side of the towel or not using multiple towels. I use 2-3 towels on the interior side of a windshield alone in most cases. Lately I just whatever rinseless wash I have mixed up at the moment to clean glass.
