Will be working on a brand new 2017 GT350 in the early spring, light paint correction needed, what would you EXPERTS use?

Don't over thinking it. After you've done you're polishing to remove any defects in the clear, if you're going to do a coating, N914 is ok, however, Erasure would be better. IPA wipes can be tricky, see Mike's article: How to Mix IPA for Inspecting Correction Results

The problem with IPA is there is no lubricity, where as, I got confirmation on the CarPro forum form Corey that Erasure does have lubricity... I use it all the time with stunning results. I'll even use it on cars not getting a coatings. (I know $$$).

After you put the LSP on the vehicle, I see no need to go back over it again or do a final wash. Unless like you say, you're going to wait 24 hours. You'll want to get the dust off. In that event, wait the next day to do the wipe-down. Save time!

For CQUK, or Pinnacle BL Coatings, typically two hours to cure, and do not get wet for 24. (wet generally meaning, don't hose it down or leave it in the rain, or morning dew).

Just make sure that when you do your post polish wipe down, that you get all the nooks, crannies and plastics, etc... Eliminate any dusting, or sling before proceeding to the LSP. You'll be fine. :)

I was not aware of the wait time on Essence, but then again I do not use it. My arsenal has the stuff that works for me... "Like Mike says, find something that works, stick with it."

My typical favorites are in this order:
Pinnacle Advanced Compound
Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish
Menz FG400 / 4500
Fast Correcting Cream
Correcting Cream

For Spot Buffs:
105/205
3D 501 / 502

But always do a test spot first! Make sure what you have planned is going to do the trick.

I was only planning on doing the wash after the correction to get rid of all dust and whatever else. It looks like it's between M205 and Optimum Hyper Polish. I like using same brand products when possible but I also know and trust M205. Meg's UC was also suggested but that seems a bit too aggressive IMO but there as some spots that WILL NEED it though.

I really appreciate all the info guys, now if someone has Mother Natures number I'd like to place an order for a weekend of 75 degree weather ☀

Well with Essence I treat it with the common sense rule. Most coatings containing some form of silica require a cure period. It's recommended if you layer these silica costings generally to let it cure for an hour. Essence uses silica fillers so I would think also to do the same pretty much with it. Now I say 24 hours because the majority of the time, if you use carpro products with essence you're fine but if you're not, 24 hour seems to be a safe time. Cquartz and what not is fine an hour after essence has been used but Mr. K. Act wants to use glosscoat with his friends stunning vehicle so it might just be better to let it cure for a full day. The other reason I say 24 is because the paint seems to be soft so let the essence cure fully, add a bit more hardness to the paint ao he doesn't accidentally marr it when he's doing the glosscoat application/residual removal.
 
I decided to purchase both the M205 and the Optimum Hyper Polish Spray. Will probably go with the Optimum as they supplied the paint coating as well. Not that is necessary but the idea of using one supplier makes sense. Also based on what I have read sling is not an issue as well. Still it is nice to have the M205 ready.

Next is the pad. Klasse will be utilizing the Griot random orbital 6", any suggestions on the pads?

I'm looking to use the LC pink pad for correction but not sure about the finishing pad, a couple choices there.

Whatever you use to polish last, I would suggest keeping a small amount of the polish mixed half/half with water just in case the paint is THAT soft.

Looking for input on pad choice, I'm a bit confused after reading the LC descriptions, probably over thinking it. I was thinking pink for correction and white to finish?

Roger what do you normally use? I try and stick with what I know to get expected results.
 
It's normally orange is correction, white is polishing, and then black or blue for finishing/applying wax. But I think it depends on what type of LC pads you use? Realistically just use what you normally use, Monica is quite right.
 
Well I used M101 on my own car before due to how it finishes LSP ready and IIRC I used my orange GG pad but this is someone else's car and is said to have soft paint. I didn't even follow the golden rule of least aggressive first on my own car but I guessed right that time, I had a feeling and I was right.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be LC CCS pads in orange, pink and white for this car and starting with Optimum Hyper Polish for correction and then watering it down a bit for final polishing. Speaking of that, when using M205 what ratio of distilled water/M205 is the best way to go.

Perhaps I have been doing it wrong, but I don't mix M205 with anything when I use it. I may mist the pad a bit during use but that is it. I will say if I AM doing it wrong it doesn't matter- the results have been there :xyxthumbs:

i've used orange CCS pads in the past with very good results Roger :xyxthumbs:

Thanks Monica, I appreciate that coming from you because I know you were on a roll for a while doing peoples cars and I have no experience with these pads from LC but I do have my trusty blue Cyan and Tangerine pad from them that I really like, a lot. I like the idea of the dimples keeping heat down, although I plan on using speed setting #4 for this car, don't see the need to go any higher.

Ted ordered the orange, pink and white CCS pads, all the products are coming together, now we need Mother Nature to step up and help us out. I'm looking forward to this project because its such a special car and the results with that color should be very rewarding!

Hey Roger. I have done my fair share of Mustangs and most had "medium" paint hardness IME. I just coated a GT500 two weeks ago with an orange hybrid pad and Hyper Polish.It removed 90-95% of the defects and I polish with Essence on a CP Gloss Pad prior to coating with CQ. Came out looking very deep and wet. You'll be fine and do like Monica suggests and don't overthink it. Can't wait to see some pics. Good Luck.
