I need to select a paint sealant to preserve my 100 plus mile per day truck. -- Dodge Rumble Bee - Solar Yellow---
I just recently fabbed a new hood, then painted it up with base/clear coat urethanes.
I started compounding with an ultra cut, then a fine cut, then with Maguiar's #80, all with my 7" rotary.
Now I have just used Maguiar's #7 show polish, applied it by hand because I'm just converting my PC 7336 over, and I don't have the proper pads yet to apply the polish/sealers/wax with.
I'm just ordering some here today, the 5.5" white and orange pad combo.
I am just truly amazed at the deep wet shine the hood has now....
Now I want the whole vehicle looking like that!!
and I need to keep it protected from the S. Florida elements!
Which sealant would you guys prefer for real heavy duty protection, and then which wax will give me the show quality finish I need to enter local competitions?
I've used Liquid Glass on my truck, and I guess it OK, but I don't know anything about all these great products that are available here.. and as for wax, if it doesn't melt away - I need a suggestion there also.
which pads to use would be appreciated also.
sorry for the long post guys, but I have to start somewhere..Thanks:cool:

Duragloss 105 for sealant, top notch durability and looks, the 111 is kinda plasticky looking, 105 looks awesome. Grab some AW for touch up every month.

You could also top with any of the good waxes, Natty's Blue, Souveran, Max Wax etc. On flat colors like yellow, Natty's Blue or Souveran all the way.

:iagree:.

Four Star UPP w/ or w/out polycharger. Super reflective, super slick, and great in florida heat !

DG #105 w/PBA #601....awesome look and durability...

Wolfgang is easy to use and looks great. Haven't tested durability yet, it's only been a week haha.

Thanks for the responses!
do you recommend using the PC or by hand??
if the PC, which pads?
I have a 5" backing plate, h/l type for it.

DG products seem to be better when done by hand.

I've tested WG and 105 - 105 beat WG in durability and looks are subjective - but I couldn't see the difference, 105 is a much better buy too.

I got the DG 501 and the DG 111 on top, like the look on those too, but 601 + 105 will be sweet too, looks good and are EASYto use (go by hand)

WOW!
lot's of praise for DG stuff..
I bought the DG 106 plus the 105
I can't wait to try this stuff out
and on top of that the Natty's Blue wax...

another question to ask!
the new hood I made has been buffed and polished down to Maguiar's machine glaze 80
and then I topped with their show car glaze #7
will the DG products go right over this - directly??

and for the rest of the 2 yr. old vehicle, I will clay bar it, then use my machine glaze 80 followed with the #7 glaze again, followed with the the DG stuff again. Does anyone see a problem with this procedure??
I have these products already. I would like to use them if they're OK..
how about any cure time between any product applications?

The MG #7 are probably long gone after the wash if its not been sealed after it was applyed..Theres no problems using the 601 and then the 105 afters over that i guess..

I personaly would skipp the #7, the 601 got some cleaners in it, and will remove it anyway...

If you want to apply the MG#7 it goes on the car AFTER the 105 (let the 105 cure for ca24h before you touch that paint with anything) and then you need a sealer over the #7 feks the DG111 or else its as said gone after a wash or two...MG #7 is more like a show car stuff to put on before a show etc...imo, got teh MG #7 myself, but i never use it...

whew!
OK - after my Mag #80 put on the Mag#7 glaze or the DG601 and the DG105 not both before the Natt'ys wax.
is that correct...?
I really need the protection from the road and elements, I really to apply the DG stuff...
and if I wanted a more showy look put the glaze on later, like before a show and then wax again. I'm kinda confused with so much stuff out there..
The yellow on my vehicle really looks good when it's wet, and the deeper darker color is what I'm after.
can you apply glaze over wax?
I am I double dipping for no reason?

I would go:

MG #80 (by DA or Rotary) you can then hose the car down, dry it and apply:
DG 601 By hand, let it dry and let it stay on car then (dont buff it off) apply:
DG 105 by hand over the DG 601, let them dry and buff off, then wait 24 h before:
Nattys wax

let the car stay in the garage if possible during curing time, so it dont fall dust etc on it before you are going to apply the Nattys wax...

its now Protected, Glossy and a head turner.....AND we want some pictures toooo...;)

I'm getting exited about doing this, and then I came home after work yesterday, and the damn UPS driver leaves a sticker on my front door, and does not leave me my order from AG.
I hate that, what do they want, I should take off work to receive a couple of pkgs. a week.
I have the same driver all the time, and I leave them notes all the time, to just leave it here..
anyway I'll follow that procedure and take some pics! Thanks

Hate when that happens, make sure he dont use some of it.....if you see a glossy UPS car, you know why...lol

yes Pics is goood
