Dodge DEMON Released...

Wonder how this will do against the COPO and SUPERSNAKE Mustang, 2 cars that are drag only.

All the effort to make this car what it is, I mean REALLY shooting their wad and yet don't have a viable small car/hot hatch, just giving that entire segment away while focusing on one you need a Hubble Telescope to see, hmmmm

Damn, a lot of MOPAR bashing in this thread. Lol

But, quite honestly, I think this comes down to brand-loyalty.

It's like me with my Ram truck. I could care less if the Ford F-150, the Chevy Siverado, or the Toyota Tundra has "this or that" that is "one-up" on the Ram. I love the Ram trucks. Always have, always will.

Same goes for the Challenger. I'm a MOPAR guy, and to me personally, the Challenger would be the one I'd pick over the Mustang, Camaro, you name it. If I owned one of these Demons, it would be me happy to have the baddest MOPAR around. If I put it head to head on a drag strip with another car that beat it, I'd tell the other guy: "Damn, man. You have one HELL of a car there!" Then, I'd still drive home with a smile on my face because I loved my car.

You can always pick apart ANY car or truck. But, if you like it, you like it.

I'm kinda shocked also, when has there ever been a factory stock car with a warranty,840hp and can allegedly PULL THE FRONT WHEELS? Is it practical? Hell no! We live in great times for cars my friends, an all electric car with Ludicrous mode, aluminum panel cars/trucks are now mainstream and some serious engineering in every segment.

Driving this car would definitely scare the hell out of me but I'm glad if ones so inclined that there's something like this for them. Klasse I'm not trying to be rude but couldn't you come up with something better than the hot hatch segment? In the US that whole segment isn't that big, GM,Toyota,Nissan don't have one.

Well said by you Paul and you sound like a reasonable Mopar guy. The thing is this...hype and playing into the pissing contest!

I'm certainly not the "fun governor" but these cars will be out right dangerous. I'm no NHRA drag racer but I know this, you don't just jump into a low 10 sec/high 9 second car with NO prior experience and expect everything to go right for you. IMO you work your way down to that level. Too many people WILL street race these cars and because of the level of power, it's going to end badly for those owners as well as innocent people out there...think 1320 videos for instance.

With all the hype about the power should've included a PSA by FCA and maybe even some free track time with the car on what to do and more importantly what NOT to do, plant the seed right away and if you save one life it's worth it!

Well said, Klasse... I'd have to agree having seen lesser cars driven by " lesser " drivers cause too many problems/hazards for everyone else on the road. The stories will probably be forthcoming... but we can hope not anyway.

I agree 100% with how dangerous these cars are! Dodge is including a 1 day Bondurant class, whatever that's worth

It's not a road racer, needs to be shown how brutal it is at there's strip. It pulls 1.8g on launch, think about that! A noob with money has NO IDEA what that feel like and there's no replicating it on the street either (no VHT unless you bring your own but still)

FCA should be getting out In front of this right now!

Your point is not only correct, it is 101% correct.

But, I would like to think that the prohibitive cost would be unattainable for most of the (ASSH*LES) we all encounter.

That being said, I believe I heard in the video that the is a special insurance company (!) when you purchase one of these cars. That is, your local Allstate agent from down the road would just laugh his balls off if you tried to insure it with him. And I'm sure the special insurance isn't just $1,000 a year.

Taking all of this into careful consideration, I personally do not believe any "morons" will be wrapping these cars around poles.

At least that's my hope.

I think it's awesome that dodge is the only brand to have the balls to do something like this.
Line lock and package skinnies and what package you want to get. I get so annoyed when people compare this to the copo camaro or mustang, it makes no sense at all
those are can ''not'' drive on the street what so ever. Were talking ''production vehicle''. This also comes from a guy that has a ford and a full blown illegal 10 sec street truck on the street.
Public will never understand something to this magnitude of passion for something.

My point being, if you have a talented driver whether it be for manual transmission or automatic, the Demon should win most of the time against any stock manufactured car. That goes for Ford, Chevy, Porsche, Nissan GTR, etc.

Agree and it will. However, on the street I'll take an AWD car with decent power every time. The Demon would no doubt be cool as heck though.

Does the COPO or Suoersnake have a VIN#, maybe that's why they aren't street legal?

As far as not understanding the passion, sure I do but people need to really understand what they're. REALLY getting into here, has nothing to do with "passion for these cars".

I think that I'm gonna buy a Demon, pick up Klasse, and go have a beer or two.

:)

You drink and I'll drive, I don't drink, it's an aquired taste that I never aquired

It's in good hands, look at the vanity plate on my own car:

I appreciate that rolling out of the factory. Its pretty easy to make big power these days. Most of the guys I know are 1000+ flywheel, and the cars can be as docile as stock except for cam rock at idle. Myself am around 700 wheel, and for sure you need to be carefull when you mash on it. Tires are crucial, even more so warm tires.
For a factory effort with a warranty they surely kicked it up a notch. Good times.
