So I prepped the driver's side of my with a light polishing (Megs Ult Polish) and an IPA wipe down (since that's all I have) and applied a coating of the McKee's 37 to that side of the car. I'm debating if I should put another application of the Megs FF on the passenger side so the two can start off equally, but then that would skew the current test on the Megs. Part of me is whispering "Do it, do it." While another part of me is saying "No, no."

We'll leave it to fate, whatever I decide, I'll keep you informed on the results ... now if I can only keep from washing my car for a week :help:

they should both be done the same way so you can get more accurate results, both washed, clayed, polished and prepped in the same manner so everything is equal.

or not and we can just compare your results to the ones I get for my head to head that ive been running for 10 weeks now. that's another route as well

That's it. Give me another reason to apply them again

IMO:
Pitting a "One Year Wax" against
a "Two Year Coating" seems to be
a little nebulous.

But, then again:
It's your game; your rules.

Thanks Bob, I was going to go look up FF cause I was under the impression that it was not a coating in the same sense as the McKee's

I realize it's a one-sided 'test,' a wax/sealant VS a coating. They both apply & remove like a dream. Right now I give Meguiar's the nod for slightly easier application and removal, but that could be moot if the McKee's drastically outlast/performs it.

I'm just looking to see which one holds up best (for me, in my environment) to determine which one I go with, for the present time, until something else strikes my fancy.

2 completely different products .

While they are different it's nice to see how they protect diffently or similarly not just in duration and longevity

Well, I made it a week without touching the car. In that time, it's been subjected to heavy dust from the construction right behind my house, a few hundred highway miles with dozens of miles of road construction dust, pollen from the nearby trees and two days of rain.

The rain occurred three days after applying the McKee's 37 Coating to the driver's side and the Meguiar's Fast Finish to the passenger side. At that time, it was fairly heavily covered in dust and pollen. Being rained on/and driven in the rain seemed to have washed most of the dust/pollen from the car, without leaving the 'spray marks' behind the wheels on either side, so I would say that both of the products have excellent self cleaning properties.

Also, being "dirty" the beading has diminished somewhat, but the effect looks to be the same on both sides, I can't tell the difference between the McKee's side and the Meguiar's side in terms of beading or dust sticking. As for the car's appearance, the gloss and reflectivity is still excellent, just a bit muted by the accumulated dirt.

Here are a few "Before & After" pics ... one from the day I actually coated the car and two taken the day after being rained on & driven in the rain. The main difference in the photos is that the picture taken immediately after coating was taken in full sun, while the 'after' picture was taken on an overcast day:

Wow, Don, there isn't much difference in those 2 pics and that's incredible!

I'm going to wash our van that was coated back in Sept for the first time in nearly 5-6 weeks. She's a pig in mud. Just haven't had time to focus on my own vehicles and am embarrassed to say that but life gets in the way sometimes. I'll do a hydrophobic and full test review once I get to her later today. Stay tuned.

To me, the FF seemed nearly identical to Blackfire Crystal Seal in application and consistency. In appearance, I give the edge to BF, but very similar products in my experience.

How is this going?

As with the Fast Finish test, I ended this one last Saturday when I used D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream to polish & prep my paint for a fresh coat of Fast Finish. For me, I couldn't tell a difference, but I believe that is because the paint wasn't properly prepped for EITHER product.

I have some mechanical work that needs done to the car (preventative maintenance, nothing major) and as soon as I detail a few more cars, I'll get the McKee's Prep Polish to properly try out the 37 Paint coating.

I'm definitely seeing a difference in dusting, it does prolong dust collection very well.

Just did a random spot on the hood after I washed it down. You can definitely tell the difference after 3 days of dusty desert life

I totally agree with the anti static abilities of UFF. After seeing Wills thread when he applied to have of his Camaro I had to try it myself. Washed my Tundra Saturday and put a coat of UFF and there is still very little dust on the paint.

I must live in a dust bowl, with the construction behind my house and the pollen from the trees, my car was COATED yesterday right after I washed the poo off of the quarter panel & just for giggles gave the car a second (for complete/even coverage) application of FF.
