Guys, quick questions- just picked up my G21 plus some 6.5 microfiber pads- the problem is that the pads are slightly larger than the backing plate. Is it supposed to be like that? I thought they were going to match, as griots only makes 5.5 and 6.5 pads. I also have a g15 back in Armenia, and as far as I remember, 5.5 pads are 1:1 with G15s plate.[FONT=&quot]

Also, the machine is vibrating quite a lot(which I think is caused by the mismatch). [/FONT]
 
Depending on the pad there should be a bit of a gap between the edge of the backing plate and the pad. The velcro on some models of pads fit more snug. What is the make and model of the pads that you have?

I notice a lot more vibration when I use a pad that is not attached as close to center as possible. Try to center the pad as best you can. Oftentimes I will remove and re-apply a pad a couple times to get it to line up properly. I'll blip the throttle a couple times to view the distance between the edge of the velcro on the pad and the edge of the backing plate and readjust accordingly. If you apply the pad very lightly you can gently "bump" it in either direction to get a better fit (blip the throttle to check).
 
You will have and want a little overlap for insurance and not have the plate hit something on accident

It's normal, you want the pad bigger so the backing plate doesn't hit the paint
