Best one-step for production detailing

What did you order?

I ended up getting a gallon of D151 and a gallon of Megs Non-Acid Wheel & Tire Cleaner ... and a dispenser bottle for the D151.

Now I just have to figure out dilution rates for the wheel cleaner

PRC is a good choice. Use a rotary on the white and silver cars. $100 is too cheap for a good 1 step, let alone an LSP also. Nathan

I know it's cheap, but it's one guy getting me all of the cars, so I'm giving him a "bulk discount." So it's either give him a discount and earn +/- $1,000 or charge a more realistic price and get nothing. If I do a good job, meaning take the extra step (topping the D151 with Meguiar's Fast Finish isn't exactly work) I can pretty much guarantee repeat business, THEN I can try to up-sell a more involved detailing at a higher rate.

Pice wise is it worth it as a dedicated AIO? I'm going to guess no unless a little goes a longggg way

I don't think so given it's only 7 oz's for $10-$12. I bought it on clearance for like $6 just to try it. I was able to get 3 vehicles out of 1 tube. A 15 passenger GMC van, a Ford F150 crew cab, and my Grand Prix (test subject). But it does cut pretty well and finish out pretty well. For a consumer it's good. For production detailing I would say no.

Also not a big fan of the toothpaste tube delivery system.

When I spoke to Jason Rose (RUPES) recently at Detailers Domain event he stated that the UHS system is designed for European Cars that use Ceramic Topcoats. Can the UHS system by RUPES also be used as a one step?

No, yes...kind of. It compounds and polishes out to a final finish but is not a true AIO. It doesn't leave a protective layer such as a wax or sealant as a true AIO. You'll have to do another step to add wax or sealant.

Tom

Tom is correct. UHS has not protective qualities so it needs to be followed up with some sort of protection. It does work on non-European cars as well. I used it with good results on my dad's Chevy Impala and my brothers girlfriend's Corvette.

Tom and Guz,
thanks for the info on the UHS system, I will need to try this system some day.
