Man was I nervous!!! So I've had the product for 2 months and between life and constant customer cars I just haven't had the time to do a proper paint correction on my personal car this season, and I knew at some point I was going to want to try CQuartz. Well being military I got a 4 day weekend this weekend and with no customer cars it was the perfect chance. So of course did the usual full decon and clay with Iron X. No pictures we all know what that looks like. For the paint correction I went with Menzerna FG400 on a LC flat MF cutting pad and followed with a white pad and SF3800. Just those two products made a huge difference in not only removal of swirls but really made the paint come to life.

Here is a shot of uncorrected side

Corrected side

Anybody who's done work on Audi & VW paint knows how hard the clear coat can be, I had about 13 hours behind the polisher over the two days. The nice thing about FG400 is how little it dusts, so I wasn't constantly wiping down huge dust mounds.

So day three, time for CQuartz UK. Why did I go with UK? Being stationed in Nebraska our winters can be brutal, I was in Minot ND prior, so opted for this in hopes that it offers great winter protection. Of course I used Eraser for a panel wipe down, at first I just did small sections thinking that was the way to go but as I spread on the coating i found myself wasting time going back and forth between the two. So I just did big panel wipes prior to coating, i.e. entire hood with part of fender, remainder of fender into door and a half...you get the idea.

Now for the application of CQuartz, it was so stupid easy to do!! It was about 75 degrees when I was doing the work, didn't get a humidity reading but it was comfortable. Anybody who's on the fence or nervous about using this don't be!! Once you figure out that you can actually do large sections and with how easy it comes off you'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner. I was very careful to make sure I was doing alternating swipe patterns to make sure no high spots were left and when I buffed off using a strong headlamp to make sure nothing was left behind. Never once did I fight the product, doing two coats with 90 min between coats took about 4 hours then let it bake in the sun. We have no rain chances till Thursday so thats a plus.

Here is a shot with the first coat

Second coat, I feel its more glossy.

After shots, these shots just do not do the car justice, the level of gloss is crazy. A friend with an S4 same color came over and couldn't believe how different it looks, he just spent $700 on a paint correction from a local place and is less than pleased after seeing mine. He's booked with me now lol.

Happy detailing.

Cquartz Uk is a lot easier to use than most people think. The trick is to not apply too much, and work the product into the paint. Don't just slather it on and wipe, then of course you'l get tons of streaks and high spots. Rather take the product and work it in more, spread it out more. Great job on the car though, UK is one of my go to coatings.

Looks great! And thanks for your service on this Memorial Day!

First, let me second my gratitude for your service to our country, brother! Thank you. Secondly, that ride looks stunning and that's tough on white. Beautiful work.

Thank you for your service! And from on vag/Audi lover to another..looking great!

The paint is hard but scratches easy lol not the easiest combo to work on.

I want to try CQUK again. First time it seemed streaky Nd couldn't get the flashing down.

6 days later still looks incredible. Had a rain shower on the way to work yesterday and couldn't take my eyes off my hood and the rain flying off!! In the past I'd do a QD for spot wipes of dirt and things, can I use a QD on the coating or just leave it?

Use Reload to spruce it up.

Yeah, Reload to maintain, but doubtful any quick detailer here or there for a spot cleaning, removal of a bird bomb, etc will hurt CQuartz, it is some tough stuff.

I would suggest against Reload. It doesn't protect your car as well, the water beading looks good but won't give you the same effect of the water beads sliding off your car at 30 mph and when you use it once, you basically have to keep using it because I find it ruins the beading of the actual coating and replaces it with something that looks good but doesn't work as well since Reload doesn't really shed off your Cquartz coating properly. It's great on its own but not on top of a coating. I would suggest to just leave it be, use ECH20 if you really want to give it a good shine for a maintenance wash or a detail spray to give it a nice shine but after all that work on your car, the last thing you'd wanna do is to ruin it with something like Reload.

I put Reload last year on my cquartz uk coated car, on everywhere but the roof. I was so disappointed in what happened that I polished off my hood and re-coated it. So now my roof and my hood are great, while my doors are just ok at best, since I found that one application of Reload ruined my cars water shedding behaviour.

Wow I've never read of this happening. Any others care to chime in on this??

I couldn't disagree more with those comments.

I recently coated my car with CQ and topped with Reload. This is the best combo I have ever used. The beading and sheeting action is unreal. After a 2BM wash with Reset, I was able to dry the entire car with my blower alone.

I've used several coating/topper combos over the years and CQ/Reload has performed and looked the best.

Hmmmm...... Now I confused.

I just finished Cquartz on my M2 last week. This is a brand new car that no one at the deal we allowed to touch. I had it delivered in trailer to xpel installer and unwrapped and washed my way. When they were done with the Xpel (full front, a pillars and rockers) I got the car home and Tuesday did the Clay and Essence on all non PPF surfaces. Wed I did 1st coat of CQ and a 2nd Thursday. I let the car sit in garage since then. Tomorrow I was going to do Reload on PPF, but I was debating on weather to do it on the CQ. As Willsport3 said, it kinda defeats the purpose of the actual coating. Kinda why I didn't do CQ on the Xpel. Why would I put protection on protection?

You don't need to put Reload over the top but it does work well. In my situation I just purchased a brand new Murano. I brought it home, washed, decontaminated, polished it and then applied CQ.

Since this is my DD I topped with Reload since I couldn't let it sit to cure. A lot of people do this - another example is Opti-Seal over Optimum Gloss Coat.

I obtained such good results from the combo that I wanted to chime in and share my experience. The CQ/Reload combo is a beading and sheeting dream.

I just used it for the first time last week also on a black Cadillac XLR and a red SL550, I liked it. I found that I had to let it sit a bit longer than regular CQuartz, and that I felt more drag with the towel buffing it off. It was also a bit thicker upon application but I found I was able to spread it better because of this trait. Overall, I like the UK. We haven't decided on it it is going to be our go-to yet though. People don't opt for the Ceramic Pro often so we have been using the "over the counter" CQuartz products a lot more.

Good review man, thanks for your service, and BEAUTIFUL white Audi. VWAG>bacon
