I wasn't completely sure about ONR leaving something behind because it's been forever since I've used it and also the fact that there's ONR wash and wax too.

It doesn't leave much but it is something to consider. ONR is fantastic on interior glass though.

N914 leaves nothing behind. Onr does.

I wasn't completely sure about ONR leaving something behind...

also the fact that there's ONR wash and wax too.

That's my thinking regarding ONR. ONR Wash and Wax is a separate product, which clearly leaves behind a wax. ONR Wash and Shine doesn't mention any wax, sealant, or protection in any of their marketing....which, I've got to think, if it did include that, it WOULD be mentioned somewhere, if for no other reason than having another "added benefit" to the customer.

When I have used ONR, I have seen it leave behind something on paint and plastic trim when there was no beading before.

Well, I stand corrected. You are correct. I just called Optimum was informed that there are polymers used for cleaning which leave a bit of a slick lubrication to enhance gloss and for the hydrophobic effect. So while it's not a wax or a sealant, it does leave behind some polymer properties.

Definitely a better answer than I gave lol.

Glossenhancers I have heard before it leaves behind as the name shine is in the product name too. But that leaves a hydrophobic effect also I have not heard. And that makes more sense that some are experience a lower hydrophobic effect when ONR is used on a very hydrophobic surface. That is expected if the hydrophobic effect it leaves is not on par or higher but a lower hydrophobic effect than what you have already from your LSP.

Thanks for takeing your time to call them!

No problem, Tony...I like to learn and my curiosity got the best of me (LOL). I also had some questions regarding Power Clean, so it was definitely worth the time and effort.

This is an interesting topic to me. I've bought several "task specific" items in the past, but lately have found myself gravitating towards ones that will perform multiple tasks. They may not be quite as effective in any specific area as a dedicated product, but they sure do take up less shelf space and cut down on overall cost.

From what I've seem, it seems that the majority of RW products perform multiple functions....mainly:

* Rinseless Wash
* Clay Lubricant, and
* Quick Detailer

...but only a few have mentioned *water softener, which is important to me since I do mainly hose and bucket(s) washes, and where I live we have very hard water. The only product which specifically mentioned *pad conditioner as one of their uses, though, is Blackfire Rinseless Wash. I'm not sure if the others can be used for that purpose, or even should be used for that...since priming pads with products that contain gloss enhancers, wax protection, etc., or any other ingredients that may potentially interfere with the compound or polish doesn't really sound all that ideal.

I would guess that most RWs (and WWs) can be used as water softeners. Using any of these as a drying aid (RW as a QD dilution for example), as you spray onto the wet surface, the water starts to roll away and makes drying easier; water spotting less likely. Anything that does this should also make the wash bucket water perform similarly. Same idea I think.

As for the pad conditioner thing, I think any QD would be fine even if having gloss-enhancers... this should be negligible for any polish, but I do understand the theory of wanting to use something like N-914 QD dilution as a preferred pad conditioner. BF RW does identify pad conditioner as a function, but it does also contain gloss-enhancers.

The simple way I think about these functions is: QDs are lubricated and therefore can be used as clay lube, pad conditioner and they soften water (especially those with gloss-enhancers). A WW is similar to a QD. RWs can be diluted as QDs. All these products should be able to perform all of these functions rather well.

So my current bottle of UWW+ is getting low.....just wondering before I reorder if there is anything else out there, preferably something that adds some protection, that people have liked more than Ultima? I like everything about Ultima, the gloss, slickness, ease of use, cost effectiveness etc. I can't fault it. So is there another product worth trying or have I just answered my own question??

Some like to try it all. Some like to stick with something that works for them.

I think you answered your own question.

Ech2o, no doubt about it

Give Uber a look liked it better than ultimate myself. Have to agree with Klasse... Ech20’s were it’s at! I use this when I want a waterless that adds some pop !

I've heard good things about Uber but I'm looking for something that leaves behind some protection. In what way would you say ech20 outperforms Ultima? I've read good things about it (re: gloss/slickness) but have heard it can be a bit streaky/hazy and require more effort to remove depending on the dilution. What waterless dilution are you guys using with the product and is this still an issue or has the product been reformulated over the years?

Ech2o DOES leave behind protection and yes, ratio is key. I use distilled water @7:1 and it can leave behind a haze that buffs away. I'd step up to 9-10:1, it's worth it, trust me. Easier to use as a RW for sure

I tried it as a rinseless of your recommendation I don’t really love it more than 914 at double the dilution. It was good just not vastly better for price difference. I actually like using Ech20 as a drying aid after N-914.

My sweet spot is 2oz in a 32oz bottle with 1oz of Shine Supply Clutch (sio2 sealant). If you have a 32 oz kwazar. I up each by .5oz and fill to the brim. I use to have streaking when I used more product according to Merlin’s mixture and applying to much product but as Klasse says just follow up with second towel. The lighter dilution seems to be working well.

Car pros recommends 1:10 or 1:15 ratio. I think when peeps get streaking it’s more at the 1:10 ratio. It’s potent stuff.
