What did you do today non-detailing related?

Just general maintenance type stuff. You mentioned the dual clutch service, oil change, spark plugs. Just the usual stuff.

Well the dual clutch doesn't need servicing unless there's an issue with its performance or if the fluid looks real dirty, that's $200. The plugs are every 50K and my buddy Hectour will take care of that, coolant flush is about 50K. The oil change is usually every 7500K and that was fine with mybold driving route but now, with little freeway driving its lower. Today infact they set the maintence minder to 4K and I'm fine with that. The oil change is probably about $50 and it's about 4.5 quarts of semi-synthetic. I have 5 quarts of Motul XS-3100 5w40 full synthetic and a Wix oil filter that I'm having them put in come spring, it's about $16.00 for the labor.

BEDXTENDER installed

View attachment 71020

Had a AMP BEDXTENDER installed this morning. Figure i will get way more use out of the bed vs. putting stuff in the back of the cab. Got it for grocery runs, gas cans, beer runs etc. This is perfect for keeping things contained at the rear of the bed. Swings outward for longer items, and totally removes really easy with a 45 degree upward pull.

Those bed extenders really help in many areas ( I have had mine for 4 years works great), even collapses nicely to the side to get out of the way.

Swapped out the yellow LEDs for switch back LEDs.

Pretty close match to the 5500K projectors

I told myself I was done modifying the GP years ago and I have more plans for it.

Oil change day
The lift helped, but the cartridge canister and filter required some extra steps to prevent the oil from draining where it shouldn’t.
I promptly went out for a spin and the oil temp got up to 229*F.
96*F ambient air temperature
10 quarts of oil

On cooler days, like mid-60’s, oil temp will stay under 210*F no problem.

I went out to wash my 350z this afternoon to get it ready for a local Z car show tomorrow. I look up and see my C43 so I figure I’ll give it a quick wash first. So I did and it looked as good as always. Wife had to run a quick erand and takes my car. I had just parked out in front of my house. People don’t park their cars on the street in my neighborhood so I always like being the only one and admiring it. I remeber listening to her turn the car on and driving off. Man it sounds good. Love those cold starts, just growls.

5 minutes later she calls me w the dreaded words “don’t get mad but.... you car...I......your car”. She can’t get it out. I’m like are you ok? She says she is. She finally tells me she clipped a curb and broke my bumper. She was expecting me to be so upset. But I wasn’t. I just wanted her to be ok. I told her to finish her errand and come home. She kept asking me why I wasn’t upset. I said it’s just a car. In my mind I’m thinking thank goodness it wasn’t my Z.

When she gets home I can hear my car coming down the street. I can hear her slow down more than usual as she pulls in and comes down the driveway. I didn’t even look at the car. I just hugged her and told her not to worry. At this point my kids are outside and about to take my temperature because they know how car crazy I am. I didn’t act like I’m supposed to. Or rather how I was expected to. And that was it.

So what did I do today not detailing related? I hugged my wife and don’t care that my car got a bloody lip. I’ll get it fixed. I really want a c63 or something ending w a 63 so maybe this is a sign :). I also realized that maybe I take this car stuff too seriously.

Oh yeah, I called the Insurance company too. They’ll come have a look next week.

Hey, if a material object is more important than your wife, then you have a HUGE problem.

Good for you, Willie. You have to keep things in perspective.

Like you said, cars can be fixed. Having the wife be ok is the big picture. :)

100% Paul. As long as I have my wife and kids and we are all healthy then everything else is just a bonus.

I went to the gym Tuesday and worked out for the first time in months. Wednesday night my groin muscle is killing me, unable to walk. Today, Friday, I’m walking kinda well.

Don’t over do it!

Scooped the stalls, filled some water buckets and took a few photos of Tjörn.

She’s Icelandic. They’re around 14 hands and have a mellow temperament.

I polished the kitchen sink.

While the current hype train seems to be focused on the new 303 Graphene Spray Coating, I decided to use a different product from 303, a product that gets little to no mention anywhere. 303 Metal Polish.

Instead of getting caught up with the hype, I chose to roll with the underdog. The results were pretty good. There’s still room for improvement, but not bad for my 1st try. I’ll go after perfection the next time I polish it.
