What did you do today non-detailing related?

As I get more and more into detailing and trying different products, I'm finding out that these cabinets might not be enough.

So I'm thinking about adding two more, one on each side. I can always add more. And maybe a floor locker style cabinet.

Cabinets and floor lockers are so damn expensive now.

Just an idea...... Check your local Harbor Freight for the US General 16" end locker. (Series 2). It's a 16" wide, 22" deep by 55" high locker with three shelves (2 adjustable) and a bottom drawer. They have them at like $289 now.
They are clearing all of those out to make room for the Series 3 hitting the stores on May 1st.

They are meant to hang on the sides of the US General tool chests, but can also sit on the floor or on a homemade dolly or stand.

I've got one coming in 2 weeks or so. (Had to order it. My store was out of stock....)

Great information. I'll check to see what they look like online. There is a harbor freight about 25 minutes away from me.

Edit: Those look good, definitely need to check on these.

I fitted some new lenses to my favourite sunglasses. I've always liked the Serengeti brand, and I found the perfect fitting pair about 10 years ago, I liked them so much I bought two pairs. But the lenses in one pair were going bad, but the frames are fine. I was looking to see if any were still available online, and I found a company in Australia that sells replacement lenses in a variety of styles and prices that fit thousands of different brands. I ended up buying replacements for two different pairs of Serengetis that I have, I went for a polarised brown tint on both, with a slight gold mirror coating on one. Total cost was just under $100 delivered, and 5 minutes each to replace.

YouTube just saved me $100-$350

My driver door speaker started sounding awful a couple days ago.
I stopped at 2 local audio places to ask about replacement/upgrading the door speakers. Apparently the doors on these have an odd setup shallow 10 inch subs plus 3 1/4” in the upper door.

Off to YouTube. Saw a guy show that the speaker breaks and 1 part can come detached. He fixed his with glue over a year ago.

Door panel off. Speaker was exactly as he described. Fixed. Door panel back installed. Done.

Trim removal tools
10mm socket and extension 2 bolts in door panel
T25 driver 2 bolts in lower door panel
7mm socket 4 bolts in speaker View attachment 76389View attachment 76390View attachment 76391View attachment 76392View attachment 76393View attachment 76394View attachment 76395View attachment 76396

NICE!!

Swapped winter treads for 'non-winter' treads. It's surprising how much wheels affect the look of a vehicle.

Modern cars can be so frustrating. The battery in the Qashqai died yesterday. I don't get to drive it too much, it seemed ok last week, but yesterday I couldn't even raise the driver's window, wouldn't start of course, and it was only showing 7-8 volts.

I called the mobile battery service this morning, when he arrived the first thing he wanted to do was jump start it, to ensure the alternator was charging fine. He attached his jump pack, and I tried to start it, nope, there was a loud click and all the dash lights went out. Probable popped fuse, but which one. He then spent 40 mins checking 3 different fuse boxes, no luck. There may even be a fourth fuse box according to google, but that's under the bumper somewhere.

So it's going to be towed to the nearest dealer, covered by roadside service, who were going to supply the battery.

Anyone know how to release an electronic parking brake without power, I really don't want to have to drag it out of the garage with the parking brake still on.

Had a Coolaroo wand operated roller shade installed on the front porch yesterday. Just for the area we sit. For PRIVACY! It is really nice! PERFECT. Got the size needed at Lowes and local handyman did the install yesterday. It will be time to set up the porch soon. The shade should have been done long ago!

Made a cocktail 'The District'

Ginger liqueur, rye whiskey, lemon juice, bitters and orange bitters, turbinado simple syrup

If I was at work I could access the service information, but can’t at home. Nothing in the owners manual about what to do in case of?

Nothing that detailed, it's all about functionality, with some transmissions it operates automatically, others not, and how to use it in an emergency, yeah, pull it up, and hold it up till you stop, and ignore any alarming noises or smells that may come from it, same goes for your sphincter I suppose if all you've got left is your electronic parking brake.

Thanks anyway, I have to call the Nissan dealer on Tuesday morning before getting it towed, they may have a way of releasing it.
