What did you do today non-detailing related?

the dealer is only 3 miles a way i will have it towed and follow tow truck and tell them I'm a retired auto tech of 55 years i know what iam doing
 
Sent some freedom seeds down range to get some chronograph numbers. Found a speed and load for the oldest hunting rifle.

Got the front windows tinted in the wife’s ride. I prefer a bit darker and want it dark dark on all the rest but I didn’t get to chose. Only nice thing is it was a lot cheaper than if I would have gone my way

The Qashqai went in for a service today, we decided to take it to an actual Nissan dealer. The guys I use for the FJ specialise in 4x4s, and they just didn't seem that interested in the Qashqai. They quoted a price when we booked it in, a little cheaper than what the other guys have been charging, and that was exactly what we got charged, they didn't call us during the day to upsell any fuel or oil "treatments", they didn't want to change the wiper blades, which are original and 6 years old, but work great. They just did the service by the book. And most importantly, they didn't wash it or spray anything on the tyres, I told them not to, but it was raining. So I'm pretty happy with all that.

I didn't ask them to, but I wanted to see if they called to say we should, they didn't. They are original, so probably near 7 years old, but they work fine. There was no upselling of anything.

When I had the FJ in for service where I go, they couldn't change my blades as I replaced the Toyota standard ones with Bosch Aeroblades, but they still got me by replacing the rear blade, with a cheap one that's probably worse than what was on there.

That's a great run for those blades, especially in your climate! I too run Bosch blades on all the cars I've had for some time now

I think that proves a well maintained windscreen will help maintain the wiper blades. I've always kept the Qashqai's glass clean, and periodically wipe the blades as well.

Taking care of a known issue on the truck. The HVAC control panel is known to lose backlighting on some buttons. No bulbs. LED. So when this happens, they swap the whole unit out. Ordered it from parts geek today. Dealer price was way out of line. Local shop above me will put the new one in. Figure this was the best approach and save money on it. Cant complain. Took almost 5 years to happen. And currently have only one button out.

Years back I got thrown and landed on my shoulder, martial arts training and my partner didn't commit to the throw, ended up with a bruised rotator cuff and deep tissue damage. No surgery necessary, but I had 6 - 8 weeks of pain and discomfort. I couldn't even hold the steering wheel with my right arm, I had to drive with my arm hanging straight down, luckily right hand drive over here so I had plenty of room for it to dangle. I do remember how painful it was, get well soon, and listen to your doctor, don't risk further injury.
