What did you do today non-detailing related?

Yesterday actually, what I call Freaky Friday owing to the stream of nutjobs that surface and come through the doors.

Of particular note, taking a customer's purchase to her car and then being bailed up in the carpark, where I was shown the house she was going to buy, the three jackets she bought in Germany at Christmas, and that she gets quite sweaty in winter, which then prompted her to tell me the best deodorant to use. TOO MUCH INFORMATION lady! :wowwow:

I did manage to offload two hideous candle holders that we were sent in error and had discounted to get rid of, apparently, they we "so beautiful"..................sure, whatever you say.

I know the type, although we didn't have them as customers, ours were couriers and truck drivers, most were ok, but there was one or two who would share too much, or were just really annoying. If you managed to see them before anyone else, you could hide down the back of the warehouse and let someone else suffer. One time I had to hide for more than half an hour, the guy who got stuck with him was so dirty on me.

Yeah, that happens from time to time.............................:props:

6 mile hike today to test out my Garmin inreach mini 2. I haven't activated/subscribed yet to use the satellite features but wanted to test it for navigation. I made a course on the Garmin explore app for a state park that I know has terrible trail markings. It was very useful to see the map on my phone which helped me for one trail that didn't exist and one that was closed. Their tail map doesn't show the trail being closed.

It only used 5% of the battery. It has me wanting a Garmin watch.

Saw some ghost pipes, which I don't think I've seen before.

I need to spend some time and learn how to use the waypoint, trackback, and other features on my Apple Watch

It’s certainly not a true GPS but it could sure get you out of a jam

Let’s just say the Ego was long-snouting today and leave it at that…

I used my Garmin Instinct Solar to track me when I walk the dogs, it tracks my movement very accurately, except for my altitude. For some reason, no matter how many times it reset to my correct starting altitude of about 17 metres, it always goes back up to about 10,600. I believe it's a known fault with this model, but it's long out of warranty now, and everything else on it is great. You can see one of yesterdays tracks below from the Garmin Connect app in my phone.

I don't think my Samsung Galaxy Watch has that but I may be able to find an app for it that does. Nice features. My experience with using GPS on my watch has been that it chews up battery fast. Looks like I can get 22 hrs of GPS with a Garmin watch tho.

I'm looking at the Garmin Instinct 2S. It would probably just be for hiking tho. I'm otherwise happy with my Samsung Galaxy Watch except for battery life with all-day hiking.

Beautiful work. I'm prepping to have my driveway painted again soon

My old 55” garage tv died. Went to Walmart today. Got a 65” 4k smart tv for $298!!

I put a new line in our clothesline. It was like a damn puzzle, luckily I found some clamps to keep the tension in the previous sections as I pulled it through the next. Then I had to loop it a few times at the end and tie a knot in something that doesn't want to be tied in a knot. I used up about 26 metres of a 30 metre line.

And so, another Friday, another stream of village idiots...................

This afternoon, a lady bailed me up to ask about the bare rooted roses that I was putting into stock. You know those random "conversations" that go on and on, where you simply listen and nod but don't get a word in? One of those................Did we have this variety, do we have that variety, I planted xyz-rose 15 years ago and can't find them anymore, one of my roses died this summer, show me how to prune them.......................in the end, I offered to leave her to have a look around, que: I'm done listening, to which she said that she didn't smoke, didn't drink, DIDN'T CHASE MEN AROUND, she could afford to buy lots of plants....................ok then....................:nomore:

Another somewhat eccentric gentleman was in for some bare rooted trees. We picked out what he wanted before asking if I was one of my boss's father! Gee, thanks! I'm closing in on 40, but I didn't think I had weathered too badly for a 37-year-old. But apparently, I look old enough to be my 55-year-old boss's father. He then had the cheek to ask for discount. Usually, it works better when complimenting the salesman instead of insulting them. :doh

Grass patrol again today

It’s amazing what 20 hours of sunlight will do

When it came up last fall it was just the Fescue varieties in the mix that sprouted and established the lawn but now the strains of Blue Grass are coming through, especially where dog spots or footprints stressed out the Fescue

It looks like I went after the lawn with a rattle can of blue-green spray paint

It’s been hot and sunny lately and I’m really hitting it hard with the water the last couple of days because it was looking a bit stressed

I just finished washing *every* single household MF I have in one load. I really don’t have that many. These are ones that aren’t soft enough for the cars. I’ve had them for years. I think they are the Costco/BJs variety that they sell in a big bag. I recommend them

I made sure that all of my guns in my safe are lock and loaded. A 500 pound black bear and her cubs were spotted at my neighborhood pool which is located at the bottom of my street. While I'm an avid animal lover, I still want to be prepared if necessary. I'm sure he'll be back tomorrow with everyone putting their trash cans out in the evening for Thursday morning pick up.

Damn, that’s a BIG black bear in anyone’s world

Be safe

Black bears usually top out at 400 pounds in NC so I think it’s a safe bet that my neighbor that spotted it has given an incorrect weight assessment, probably out of sheer shock. This bear was already spotted in an adjacent neighborhood but was chased away by dogs and animal control has been so hammered lately with unusual wildlife calls that they won’t do anything unless the bear or a person is in an emergency situation. Now, based on the motion camera footage of the house near our pool area, we have a roaming bear family, wild turkeys, a rather pleasant family of raccoons and coyotes. My neighborhood is turning into an episode of National Geographic.

We'll just stick with our Kangaroos thanks, I saw one last week that was almost as tall as me, but it took off when the dogs started barking.

My sister's always sending me videos of bears roaming her property over in Cedar Mountain. They are a bit more remote so there's no trash pickup so nothing stored outside but doesn't stop them from looking around.
