I noticed scrounging around autogeek that pinnacle are selling sea sponges...

I was always taught that natural sea sponges are potentially bad for car paint due to trapped sand particles

I know I've gotten at least 6 good size sea sponges here and have never used them to wash my car... Thoughts?

I love sea sponges, but you will see a bunch jump on here and gripe about them. I have used sea sponges on my dark blue SUV for forever and no troubles with them. Just my .02

Sea sponges are very nice, especially when coupled with Pinnacle Bodywork shampoo. I still have mine laying somewhere. I use Shmitt most of the time.

I love sea sponges. Just rinse them out real well before using because there is a possibility that there is some debris left over. But if its on the inside of the sponge, it really doesn't matter :). But a good rinse / soak will take care of it. Make sure the ones you have are the wool sea sponge, they are the softest and safest for paint usage. I really like using the sponges for rinsless washing.

Jason swears by them .... I am scared as poop to use one. Just one grain of salt or sand and scr......ee....t....c....hh...!!

Since you are sooo scared to use it, when I come down for DTFIII I will use it on your ride:D :D

Im not even detailing it this year, I am leaving it all up to you ! You can even sneak a little "Z" into the mix .... :buffing:

I don't know about sea sponges, but the new rage on some sites seems to be "grout sponges".

I haven't worked up enough courage to try one yet. :D

I bought one after all the hype on the grout sponges a few weeks ago.
I have yet to use it.....lol

i would hope here would be some sand in them !! gives me a resone to brake out my menzerna polishes:D

I bought a sea sponge too but have not used it yet, I don't want to scratch the hell out of my car, but then again I bought it... got to try it!

They are great for cleaning wheel wells but I won't use them on paint, got bad results a while back

Picked up a Martha Stewart natural sea sponge, anyone think it will destroy my paint?

It is my understanding that:

The testing of this natural sea sponge occurred over a consecutive five month period...
Ms. Stewart found that it was: Best-used...since it was "grit-free".
