Sealing my new Vette

OK, don't shoot the nub.

I've used Klasse on my boat and loved it. Just got the vette last month, and I want to seal it.

After washing real good, I'm going with a coat of AIO.

Now heres the questions.

Can I put a coat of the SG after the AOI, or should I wait a day?

If I want to put on another layer of SG, should I wait a day? Can I wait a week, wash it, and then put on another layer of SG. How often? The car is a weekend warrior, so it's not going to see allot of atmospheric fallout.

I've found allot of info searching but I'm trying to get a handle on the time between, or how ofton to put on SG.

I plan to use the pinnacle spray wax, but a want to seal it real well first.

Next year after the 2K clearcoat is good and hard, I'll give it a clay bar rubdown, and redo. Atleast that is the current thought.

Unless your Vette is repainted, you don't need to wait for the paint to cure to clay. The paint is already cured from the factory so you can clay and everything! I haven't used Klasse so I'm not sure about cure times or anything. Generally, sealants have to be cured 12-24 hours depending on the instructions. For the AIO, read the instructionst to see if you need to let it cure before layering SG on top of it.

Clay immediately. One of the best ways to help get the surface ready to seal. You can wait but I would do it right away.

You did not mention any paint correction for swirls and marring. If your paint surface is relatively free of marring AIO is a good paint cleaner. I have always applied SG directly after buffing of KAIO. But I do wait at least 12 hours before applying second coat of SG. I also employ the WOWO for SG. Others have had good luck with applying then waiting twelve hours before buffing off. All I can say is put it on thin and your will have a winning combination.

remember with SG the best line of attack is a small travel size spray bottle. One spritz per panel and WOWO method. If you get a stubborn spot on removal, respray and buff immediately.

Thanks all. As the car is new, I see no issues with the finish except for a little orange peel here and there. I did find a small, light scratch, so will the KAIO with a DA take it down?

Also, as for claying, I'm having a hard time thinking about rubbing my new clearcoat with a wad of firm rubber (lack of better words). My background is a paint chemist, and I have developed and tested automotive topcoats. Although a clearcoat is cured at the factory, there are some post changes that occur, especially with 2K systems.

Any good reading links for what clay does, how it works, and such?

You'll want to clay it after you wash. Here's a pic clay from a brand new BMW that I detailed. New cars pick up all kinds of stuff in transit. Claying will pick up all of the bad contaminants that are on a new vehicle.

For the AIO, should I use a white foam pad with the DA to apply/polish?

Is white to firm?

I haven't seen anybody use the DA for Klasse AIO. I always see people use it by hand.. You can always experiment though. AIO is a chemical cleaner, so use something below the white pad, like a grey or blue pad (both don't have cut at all). If you want to remove scratches, you have to use an abrasive polish. I'm sure people would recommend Menzerna polishes, because Menzerna has polishes for scratch resistant clear coats, which are very hard clears. I'm assuming all the new Corvettes have hard clear coats.

Windshield advice...

Just got a really tiny tiny chip from a rock in my windshield. It is not large enough to be a concern but would like to do something about it if possible. Brand new BMW 550i. Can that be buffed or poilished out?
