Microfiber cleaner?

I have always wanted to test it out too.

A earlier post about melting points. I havent done any research myself...

https://www.autogeekonline.net/foru...-microfiber-towels-what-temp-post1453447.html

I have washed on HOT and forgot to turn the dryer to low. I felt a slight roughness on some small areas of a couple eagle edgeless towels. After one use and wash (warm water, 3D Towel Keen and vinegar, dry on low), 'roughness' is gone.

I'm not sold on the HOT water and high air temp being bad, however its probably a slight waste of propane for our water heater/dryer.

Using hot water to wash microfiber towels is perfectly fine, even the label on the Griots PFM towels that I opened last week clearly states “machine wash in hot water”

As for the dryer... I’ve never felt the need to dry on anything beyond low heat since they come out perfectly that way. I was supposed to do a test drying on high heat but I haven’t gotten around to it.
Yup!

Thank you. Normally I would’ve posted a pic, but I tossed the bag it came in and a little bit of my OCD was bugging me until now. lol.

Microfiber has a high melting of 245 degrees so I don't think anyone runs a hot water heater that high.. I run mine at 117 degrees. My HE washer will also heat water to make it hotter based on the temp of the hot water coming in to the washer. I wash warm then 2 rinse cycles. Yes you can clean MF on hot water the danger is drying I dry extra low.

I looked up dryer temps a while back. I’m not saying all dryers don’t exceed these temps but it makes me feel a little safer about running them on high, which is really only 10* higher than low.

Yeah, well, if you ran your water heater at 245F you'd get steam out of the faucet, not water (well, potentially).

As Mantligh posted, dryers don't get anywhere near 245F. But then again this was all settled science over on the other forum like 10 years ago, but why quibble over things like boiling points and melting temps?

Because not everyone was on that form? Why do "we" all discuss the same products multiple times? Its inherent of the forum/social media platform. The majority of people don't think about researching before asking a question. It's instant gratification and they move on, much like how search engines have evolved. We used to have to actually read books for information, then we could type it into Altavista... fast forward to today and we can ask our phones or home devices for answers to questions, directions to bake a cake, etc.

Im really NOT trying to be an ass or argumentative!

I was about to quote the last part of your post just because it was funny. Lol.

But you had already corrected it. Lol.

Yeah.... I turned off auto correct on my phone and now I forget to proof read.

EITHER WAY! I dont want to derail this thread.

Actually, derailment is a good thing. Microfiber melting debates are the absolute worst. lol.

Think it was a Youtube video where TRC said to not wash in warm water or dry on the high heat setting. And when I read the washing temps on the different mf towels some says 40C=104F which TRC recommend and some 60C=140F and have some that even says 90C=194F. I don't know what the setting is for you guys to those temps?

I use a mf towel wash detergent from a domestic company. And some times white vinegar to soften them up a bit more in the rinse cycle. If I do that I do an extra rinse cycle. Always air dry them since I don't have a tumble dryer lol

I try my best to stay away from detergents,
(for cleaning microfiber-towels/pads/etc.),
that contain perfumes/fragrances; and
Sodium Hydroxide.

Bob, I'd be curious to hear your preferred detergent for washing microfiber towels and preferred cleaner for cleaning pads?
