What Was Your First Car?

1968 Corvette.

Passed down from my grandparents who bought it New when the “new body style” debuted. My mother wanted it and they gave it to her on the condition that she could never sell it, it had to be passed down to the first grandchild in the family.

Pulled this from the web. I don’t have any pics of the actual car at hand. It wasn’t in this nice of condition. It had been a daily driver for years and then in storage for years before I got it.

At 16 I inherited a '94 dark green Dodge Intrepid w 86k. Drove it for 4 years until it had 111k miles and traded it in. Decent car that was kept pristine with turtle wax, black magic and armor all brand products.

'97 Camaro RS. Forest Green. With a Flowmaster. Then switched it to an Edelbrock Catback. I thought I was the hot-ness

67 Camaro convertible. It had an actual “Earl Schibe” paint job when I got it (1984). Receipt for the repaint was in the car. $199. Painted right over some of the badges on the body. Straight 6, power glide trans. Awful combination. No power steering or brakes.
Passed it down to my sister and bought a 69 Camaro in hugger orange two years later. Loved that one.

These and the GLH Omni, are two cool Mopars from the 80’s.

I liked my little Charger, fun car. The GLH, Goes Like Hell, that's why Mr. Shelby named it that. They also made a GLHS version of both the Charger and Omni, off the top of my head I can't remember what made them different. I seen a Charger GLHS once at a car wash when I lived in Oklahoma, talked to the owner for about 20 minutes, he told me but forgot. Back then you could also get the 2.2 turbo engine in a Lebaron GTS, and the Daytona Turbo Z, also the Plymouth Laser but pretty sure only with a automatic.

My Grandfather was a mechanic at Northland Chrysler in Oak Park, Mi. for a long time. He found out that you could change a computer that was located in the passenger side kick panel, I want to say it was called a logic module, it upped the boost enough to really notice a difference. I was 16, walked into Ramchargers on Northline and Allen slapped down the $140 got one, walked out of there a man!

The GLHS had an intercooled 2.2L, regular GLH was a "hot air" car. The GLHS made 174 HP compared to the 150 HP of the regular GLH. Koni suspension was also part of the GLHS package. I know they made 1500 of one but only 500 of the other, just can't remember which goes to the Charger and which goes with the Omni.

Don't forget about the IROC Daytona and Spirit R/T's, both had 224 HP thanks to a Lotus developed DOHC head. They were making progress and then just stopped, why?

I don't know, maybe because Lee Iacocca retired.

Don't know if this has been asked before. Just curious how everyone started out!

My first was a 1986 Dodge Shelby Charger, black and silver.

1964 Impala SS, 327-300hp, 4spd Muncie, blue buckets and factory in-dash tach. Bought 1969, sold 1971.
As we always say, I sure wish I had it today.

'76 ford Granada coupe, 4 speed with a "hog leg" on the floor!

'74 C-10 Chevy P/U.

It had no engine. Bought a 400 small bock off a guy in the next town and spent a few weeks hooking it up.

The whole rig was pretty crappy looking back on it, but boy was I proud of it back then.

1972 Buick GS, here is a pic of car and then girl friend/now wife in the pits at York US30 Drag strip in 73. Had more hair and was thinner back then, worked 3 jobs and saved up for this car. As usual if I'd of known I would of kept it but sold it when I got married, got a good job and 4 kids and yrs later I bought another one(as seen in my avatar)

My first was a 1986 K5 4x4 Blazer. Blue with a black top. My dad gave it to me when I turned 16. It was the bottom of the line edition. Had the rubber floor mat with vinyl seats, had a 305 with probably a million miles on it. I put that thing thru hell. Where I grew up in Alabama all we had was dirt roads, beer and parties. We figured if the cops can't get to us they can't take our beer. Best time of all was when my buddy got a GREAT idea to do Teen wolf surfing down a dirt road. Put a dent in my top and the dent was still there when she got sold. Ahhh the good days. I got the love of my life a couple of years ago. She is a 1970 SS Chevelle 396 one owner. She needs a little TLC but she is my fist muscle car. Shhhhhh my wife still thinks she is first but we know big red is #1
