This is a review of the new Speedmaster Tire Dressing Applicator. If you are like me and other detailers you are always looking for the best method to apply tire and trim dressings. I think I have tried every applicator on the market from grout sponges, brushes, cheap dollar store curved applicators, and foam blocks only to have most fail and fall apart after a few uses. Wnen I saw a new tire and dressing applicator from Speedmaster I decided to give it a try.
Product Description:
The Speed Master Tire Dressing Applicator is an open-cell foam applicator designed to apply an even and complete layer of your chosen tire gel or dressing. Manufactured with a soft foam design bottom and a thicker red handle, the Speed Master Tire Dressing Applicator has grooved lines on the applicator side that channel your product evenly onto the surface. The soft foam molds itself to the surface of your tire, preventing dripping and excess product being wasted. Speed Master Tire Dressing Applicator provides a perfect, even finish on your tire every time!

Thoughts:
The applicator is constructed of two foam pads that are molded together. The top (red) foam layer is the handle and the bottom (black) foam is designed with channels to hold tire and trim dressings. The channels help to maintain and distribute the product. The foam seems very durable and dense and not something that will fall apart after a few uses like traditional black/yellow foam applicators.
The applicator measures approximately 4 inches and fits very nice in your hand. The curves in the black foam make distribution of product very easy and it’s design is perfect for low profile tires. In the photographs I had no issue applying it to the low profile tires on my 2003 Nissan 350Z.
For me I feel that I will be using this applicator for more low profile tires or for trim dressing application. I have switched to a flagged tip brush for dressing application on my Jeep and truck tires since it ensures the most even coverage.
However I feel the shape and ergonomics of the Speedmaster Tire Dressing Applicator would make it perfect for reaching into wiper cowl and small bumper areas when applying trim dressings. I can’t comment on the foam durability for continued use on tires but now the foam seems pretty durable. Overall I was impressed with the applicator and plan on purchasing a few more for different product applications.
