Desert detailing

So most of u know I always say I live in the desert and deal with extreme heat and high windy. Which is why I can't use a pop up canopy for shade and which is why I don't usually use tire shines and other things. My environment is very unique and it's taken alot...and I mean alot of hours of trail and error to come up with a system that works to get great results that a client wants. Just to throw it out there again I even polish in these high winds, it's far from fun but it's more then possible and it doesn't leave behind mirco marring like so many believe it does if you do it right.

This natural sand blasting is what leads many around here to end up with the blasted paint like this BMW I have to spruce up.

These winds are also why most have soany issues with waterspots, you never know where the water comes from and with the high winds u really don't pay attention to your car as your goal is to keep your head down and get in the car as fast as possible. So spots can sit and bake for days or weeks before u notice since they will be covered in dust withing mins of a wash

And here you can see the large sand grains that blew in as I got in my car they are everywhere in all the cracks and crevices of the interior. When this is a daily thing most people just leave to live with it as there is no winning.

You could be buffing around rust inflicted parts and beating salt out of the carpet and mats. Pick your poison. At least with the sand blowing around the body is ready for paint as the old paint has already been removed :laughing:. I have been on both sides of the coin on this one and yes the sand and dirt blowing around is a PIA but I still have a whole vehicle without holes and 5 gallon jugs of penetrating oil on hand.

There are a few disadvantages of living in the desert, but I think they pale in comparison to living where snow and the accompanied salt are used.

Is it not possible to have a shop garage to work in? Or does not the customer wants to leave their cars?

The damage on the BMW was strange looking. How did you polish that out?

Well the list would be shorter of what I haven't tried, right now it's half, PA viking and half enigma.

Both got spots within 48hrs and will need an acid treatment

It's actually why I kind like sealants better and it's looking like paste sealants do better for me then spray sealants as far as making waterspots easier to remove. And dust ... slightly less

i've read your experience on PA thread
and i doubt any LSP will survive long in that environment Lol

would like to hear your opinion on geyon can coat, sonax pns & meguiars UFF.

Can coat is really no different than any other ceramic except it doesn't last as long

Meg's fast finish is a great interior protector and helps with the dust

PNS gets tricky to apply so stopped using it.

It's like fighting a losing battle. That last picture (door handle) sand blasted?

I live in Phoenix, so I feel your pain, but overall, I can't say it's the worst thing. I do go through windshields often, due to the sand-caused pitting that occurs, and the heat just kills me during summer, but most of the time, I can pull the car in the garage immediately after washing in order to dry/clay/polish/wax if I need to.

Personally, I think it's more manageable than dealing with winter cold/snow and salt.

And like I said before I have ceramics sealants on one of my cars now and here's how they look after the dust settled.
