I've spent well over $450.00 this week on auto detailing supplies (for personal use) and I want more!

You have a problem my friend and there is no help or cure for this disease. Call Mike P, he may have a class for this problem.

Remember, It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission!

Gear Acquisition Syndrome. No cure for it, my friend. And you can drop $500 on detailing supplies in a heartbeat.

Repeat after me: “I’ve had that wax for years, honey.”

Yep.
It started out I wanted a GG6, then I needed pads, then they had one those spend this much and you get this sweet Buff and Shine water bottle, then they had one of these spend just 24.63 more to get free shipping, then this, then that............. this snow ball has gotten quite large.

Will me your gear! (just in case)

Contrary to the popular belief, it IS possible to come back from that rabbit hole, the dark hole, the disease, the syndrom, the addiction, etc. You just need a serious amount of discipline, a strong will to live, and a good book to read.

I stay away from looking at the sales. I know what will happen if I see something I want at 20-25% off.

I've even turned away a "free wax for a review" some time ago (VERY hard, since I really really like paste waxes)

Yes, it's possible.

Lol

My wife always shakes her head when another product arrives.

But, she knows it makes me happy, and as she says: "At least your addiction is something useful and not sitting in a bar room wasting all your money with nothing to show for it".

:dblthumb2:

There’s no cure: Always something new, better,
or just want to try. And then the sales, what’s a man
to do?

We’re at the gym together and started to give her my wallet to put in her bag to hold....... then I told her I’ll just hold onto it cause you might try to keep it from me.

You're just getting started. I've spent over $1000 on polishers, $2500 on liquid products, $500 on non-liquid products (tools, paste waxes, detailing brushes, etc.) and just spent $500 on towels last month and it is all for personal use. That doesn't include the $500+ I spent on my home-made CR Spotless clone or the $300+ I just spent on my CR Spotless clone v2.0. My v2.0 CR Spotless clone was cheaper, better, smaller, too. I'm retiring my v1.0 CR Spotless clone, the v2.0 is so much better. I also just spent a bunch on resin regeneration rig and supplies.

It is a hobby so the money goes towards something I truly enjoy and the results are something I can show to people and hopefully impress even the most skeptical friends. Beats collecting stamps or building model airplanes (neither of which I am very good at), too.

I keep all of our vehicles' paint, glass, interior, tires and wheels swirl-free, pristine and in better-than-showroom appearance. I showed my wife what a detailer charges for end-to-end services so she sees the practical side of it. I provide all of the labor and the comments received from her friends keeps her from sniping about the charges, vast majority are to AGO. The garage is getting filled with bottles and containers of products and MF towels but she does like the fact that her vehicle is always looking nice.

If you can get your wife to appreciate a detailed car then I think you would be at least half the way there.

I have the same disease! My wife tells me to enjoy my retirement and I do.
Except for all the doctor visits!

There’s an easy way to take
care of even the mere threat
of any such villainous act:

Packages can be routed to the local UPS/FedEx store for pickup.

I hope I didn't corrupt innocent souls with this information.

I tell my wife the boxes have illegal drugs and pornography in them, and she says "as long as its not another box of stuff from that AGO place" Works like a charm!
