Compound ideas

CarPro Clear Cut has replaced almost all compounds for me. Cuts far more than Menzerna 300 and finishes like 2500.
 
Griot's Fast Correcting cream is awesome! I've hard Sonax Cutmax cuts like a beast, no dusting, but I'm not sure of the finish. Tried Clear Cut according to directions(light pressure then heavy) and didn't get that great of results. I'm going to try it the traditional way I use compounds. What I like most about CC is the easy wipe off.,

I use Clear Cut the traditional way.
 
I also tried Clear Cut a couple of times according to the directions and didn’t get great results.

It seems there’s a learning curve to get it to work right.

I got good cut from it but couldn’t get it to finish good. I’ll have to keep playing with it and trying different pads.

I like the idea of cutting fast and minimizing my polishing/compounding time.
 
When some of you say wipe off can be a pain or difficult is that because it's only or because it's hard to remove from drying out?

For this test I will be using a BOSS microfiber cutting pad on my G21 set to speed 5. The test subject is a beat up Ford Flex. Upon opening the package I noticed that the sent appeared to be kinda creamsicle like smell. One to note is when applying the product to the pad to be careful because it`s a bit liquidity in nature. I applied 4 drops to the microfiber pad and began working. The product spread thin, far and easily. The working time was great and it doesn`t seem to clog up the fibers in the pad. Wipe off was a breeze.

Now the good stuff. This compound corrected very well and the finish using a microfiber cutting pad was unreal! I was expecting a little haze which is normal. But none was detected! The product is a little pricey but I really think I will be adding this to the lineup!

FG is and "agglomerated" abrasive. The micro abrasives are clumped together and are broken into a non diminishing polish.

So, no, FG isn't dated.

Super expensive, but a very nice compound. Cut good, finishes great, no dust and very user friendly. However, it must be worked longer to get the best results from it. Great compound, but not my first choice for time sensitive details.

Apex detail has a great series where he compares cutting compounds if you haven’t seen it.

One I’m interested in trying out personally is hd cut+

I bought it along with a few others, so going to try them out and see how they do, if I don't like them, well oh well. I can always go back to D300

I've tried all but the Gyeon.
PA:could have polished that panel all day, never dried out.
400: nice but the smell and couldn't get the pads clean, they stunk like gas !
Jescar: Very nice, not too much or too little oil, but was noticeable during wipe off.
I used a foamed wool pad and surprisingly had almost zero dust. Hit it w/ MF pad and could have gone to an LSP.
 
So Cruz, I have to ask you. You said in another thread that 99 percent of your jobs are AIO. Do you sometimes make a few compound passes before the AIO on messed up cars? If so, what's your strategy to keep the time in a salable area.

Oh, one more thing. Is there a reason McKee's Fast Cut hasn't been mentioned yet?

Both cut well on a microfiber pad. FG 400 seems work a little longer without drying out. D300 seems to cut a little faster. I love them both but if I could only have one it would be FG 400. FG 400 works better on a foam pad compared to d300 which I only use on microfiber cutting pads.

So, the above is correct, but as of late I've been doing less of the AIOs and I've worked to change how I'm viewed as a detailer and have changed my competition. Because of this I now for the moment have a need to compound note often

I’ve used PA Master Compound. I didn’t care for it. It just wouldn’t cut like a compound. I would call it more of a heavy polish. PA needs to stick to waxes, sealants, and coatings where they really shine. A company rarely does everything great.
