So with the sale, looking to save a few bucks. Typically I use the wash soap to clean my wheels but Im sure Im leaving some dirt behind afterward. Im okay with that but Im looking for something else to use here and there to clean them a bit deeper. Im currently using/have Griots HD wheel cleaner that changes color. I like it and all but maybe I should be using something else more frequently?

I think Im going to grab a bottle of the new Megs ultimate wheel cleaner that changes color, its cheap and it'll cover that deep clean every now and then. But should I get something else to use here and there like Griots wheel cleaner ( the green ), or maybe there is a better value out there?

Thanks!

Been using mckees37 foaming wheel cleaner with good results

Griots Garage standard wheel cleaner is good, but unless I have a seriously dirty wheel, I use Meguiars APC diluted at 10:1, or maybe even 4:1 depending on how bad they are. Once you get your wheels clean, coat them and all you will need is soap and water after that. I use McKees Wheel Coating and have had excellent results.

I decided to try the Megs Ultimate cleaner after that review thread I read. I'll only use it every two months or so.

Thanks guys

I also like Meg's wheel brightener and use it like MrOneEyedBoh, about once a month. Weekly washes on my wheels are with my regular car wash soap, Meg's about every 3rd or 4th wash and Iron X about every 3 months. My wheels always look good.

My wheels always look good.

Any pics?

I have a few. If I was going to go buy more, I would repurchase Meg's 143. Cheap, works great and on wheels that are regularly cleaned and coated (with a product like Hydro2 or Wetcoat) I've never needed more.

Most of the time, wash water is all you need. If I'm going to recoat, I use the 143. As an extra bonus, it's an excellent prep for tire gel.

Mckee's 37 foaming wheel cleaner gel does an awesome job. I used the griots hd wheel cleaner for a couple years then tried the mckee's and i like it a lot better. The only thing bad about it is the smell lol.

I personally like Meguiars Non-Acid wheel and tire cleaner from the Detailer line. Cleans both the tires and the wheels and diluted 1:1 it really kicks ass on neglected wheels and brightens them big time. If you dont get yours that dirty (as with my own wheels) I use it for maintenance on my car @ 2:1. Does a great job and its inexpensive for a gallon.

Meguiars D143 is a great wheel cleaner that also doubles as a good tire cleaner. I dilute it 2:1 and it is still a good bargain. There are better dedicated tire cleaners out there. It depends on how bad your tires are to start with.

+1 for D143. Great maintenance product. I use it at 2:1 as well. Love that it's versatile as a tire cleaner too, and cost-effective overall.

Been using Poorboy’s Spray and Rinse Wheel Cleaner with excitement results. Have the non-acid version on order. Guessing it will be just as good.
