Car back from body shop, wait 30 days?

I just got my car back from hitting a deer. My hood and driver side front bumper needed to be replaced. The shop told me to wait 30 days before I use any silicon based products. Is this true? I'm incredibly impatient so 30 days seems like a really long time to me. They told me they used a body shop safe 3M compound and polish on my car

Yes it’s true.

The solvents they use to harden the paint need to off-gas. If you use a sealant or wax, or non-bodyshop safe polish, you'll essentially end up with what is called solvent popping. The solvents get trapped and then harden.

If you can't wait then you can use Meguiar's M305 as it is fresh paint safe. Optimum states that their spray wax and ONR are fresh paint safe.
