Anyone had any trouble with their UDM?

It stopped in the middle of buffing the other day, I fittled with the switch and appeared to work again...so I thought it was the switch and got another one. But it stopped again, wont turn on anymore. Anyone had this kind of problem before?

I guess there are a few people who are having the same troubles with their UDM. There's something wrong with the brushes on certain machines (built in the beginning of May, I believe). Have you registered the machine through UDM? If so, contact their warrenty dept. and they'll ship you a new machine and necessary return shipping info (call tag; no charge to you). Or you could contact Meghan and see if AG can do anything with it.

Great I just checked the date on my UDM and it says 5/1/2007. :( Thanks for the information budman3.

I just have another problem today, It's broken!..the axis spins of couterweight is broken...hope to claim the warranty to get a new one.!

the switch on my brand new UDM is very sensitive also; ie. the machine will only run if i have my finger on the switch putting some kind of pressure on it... am I right in assuming this isnt normal? Also, in trying to register at their website, has anyone else found that page doesnt work?

A little update. I had contacted AG and was about to ship the UDM. Before I shipped it out I decided to give it one more try and it started right up...While it was running I started to put the back cover back on and it stopped again..removed the cover and it came back on.

What I have found is that the red wire going to the speed selection switch is to short and has put to much stress on where the wire is going into the speed switch. So it appears that it is causing the speed switch to randomly short, during the vibrations the wire is pulling itself out of the speed switch.

Watching closely while trying to put the back cover on while the UDM is running I can see a spark of some sort coming from where the red wire is going into the speed switch.

Easy fix, but I feel like this isn't something that is or should have been easily overlooked. Not to mention possibly dangerous. And while I could get a new whole unit I can't really afford to be sitting around without a buffer..So it looks like this will be a DIY fix..probably get a new switch also.

It is a nice machine but at the same time I was expecting a little more then what it is really offering.
