I've been off and on this board for years. I'm definitely a novice but I enjoy detailing. Just bought my wife a new car and I'd like to seal the paint since we live under pine trees. Does anyone have any recommendations for a quality pain sealant? Also, since the car is new, do I need to do anything before sealing the paint (other than washing)?

Thanks.

I’d use an iron remover and clay it after a wash. If it needs polishing, I’d do that too. As for sealants, the sky is the limit. Blackfire paint sealant and Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealnt seem to be popular these days.
If those seem too expensive, Meguiars M21 synthetic sealant works well.

Meguiar's M21 and Duragloss 111.

Polish Angel High Gloss. Phenomenal shine with excellent "hydrophobicity".

Are people using High Gloss as a standalone with decent durability? I always thought of it as more of a topper.

I use it as a Topper personally (on top of CQUK 3.0); but I've heard it's a good standalone with up to 7 months of performance.

How about dipping into coatings? Gyeon CanCoat you get the behavior of a coating and the longevity of a great sealant. I would decon wash the car. Iron remover and if any tar spots a tar remover too. If it feels like it needs to be clayed then do that. But if I would be claying I would polish with Gyeon Primer too. Then you extend the longevity of CanCoat up to an year.
