What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

That Tundra looks great. Is that new paint? Looks like a newer color like destroyer gray on the mopars. That would cause a major bidding war here in Michigan if it were for sale.
Yes it’s new paint. It polished out nice but there’s areas with flaws, solvent pop going on in several spots.

The ready to use bottles of hyper dressing are a 1:1 dilution. I did 3:1 for my engine bay and liked that but everyone has their own preference for level of shine.

Speaking of Hyper Dressing, has anyone else noticed there seems to be a shortage of it? I was trying to buy a gallon online this weekend but most places are out of it.

There have been mentions of that on the Facebook group. People looking for alternatives due to availability.

photographing gray is the hardest thing you can do, there is no margin for hue shift an color cross overs

Look at the front Vs. back of truck in same photo and you will see what I mean

Front is warm(sun)...back is cold(shade)

Absolutely. I had a gray car once and it even tricked my eyeballs, let alone a camera.

On Monday, the Camaro came back from a 1060mile round trip to Az & was cleaner than when it gets used for commuting to work 6 miles away. Altho there were a few bugs on the front (fewer than 2 dozen).
Gave it a quick wipe down with CSS & cleaned the windshield. Went to Wally World & Costco yesterday in the SB Honda, but earlier there had been a trip in the Camaro to the PO. Was leaving for Wally World & spotted a neatly folded blue MF laying in the middle of the road out front. Picked it up when I got home, must have been left on the deck lid of the Camaro...
May clean the glass on the SB Honda today (I washed it on Sunday)

Did some experimenting on my new VW. There was still adhesive left on the paint from the window covers. I ended up having to use some polish on a microfiber towel to remove it. Then i clayed a small area and experimented. I found that compound on a microfiber pad removed all but the deepest imperfections really quickly. An orange pad with some carpro essence removed the light swirling pretty well also. At this point im trying to decide if i want to just do a polish over the car and spot treat local issues or do a true two stage. I think i will have to do some more experimenting over a larger area.

Do you mean go big and compound and polish, or go big with test area?

You could be if you were retarded like me......Er I mean retired...:D

I "get to" do some correcting this weekend thanks to the dealer not understanding their free wash is actually a nuisance. Damn water spots everywhere and what seems to be new swirling in spots. I thought no wash was pretty clear... really annoyed. My car was so freshly shined that the glare in the sunlight should have stopped them from driving into whatever the hell it is they consider a car wash.

The downfall of Genesis will come by way of their Hyundai network. They better figure out their consumers quicker than they're getting their standalone dealerships built...

I have a hang tag for my car that says do not wash and I make sure the service manager marks this down on the work order.

My Honda dealer was pretty good about this but I understand not all dealers are the same. I don't mind being known as a "difficult customer" if it comes to that but I'd say chances are if you explain the car is pristine, the staff will honor your wishes.

I'm supposed to get tires after the holidays and I'm bringing my car to the best shop in town. It's an Autogeek's delight: you can eat off the floor!

Yeah. I think I need to add something inside so the message gets spread.

I'd like pictures from your floor lunch

The problems with genesis is that they are not marketed well so know one knows they are available. I know of a ship close by that has both brands and I think they service 1 a month and maybe sell one a month if they are lucky. No dealer principle is going to build a stand alone store for a once a month brand for service and possibly sales.

It's a regional thing. They do fairly well in some areas yet here they have 4 partner dealerships (Hyundai) and I rarely see them on the road. Other areas can't keep them in stock (supply issues aside).

That said, they are doing the same as others and starting Genesis specific dealerships. I believe the first ones are down south. I want to say the first one is already in or being built in Louisiana.

I forgot to tell VW not to wash my Jetta prior to delivery :( Definitely swirled the paint. You can tell they used a dirty rag because the windows have the smear of dirt that only comes from improper washing.

Oh man, that's a major drag. I think the dealer would remember me for all the wrong reasons if that happened to me. :(

It came out with some mild correction. Gives me an excuse to polish the car this weekend. Gonna make that orange SHINE.
