What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

It may be harsh to some people but it is reality

It is kind of like my kids thinking that they should have, in their late 30s and early 40s, exactly what my wife and I have after a lifetime of work, scrimping, saving etc

I NEVER looked at what my parents had and expected to have the same things without busting my ass to get to their position
We're all playing the game of life... just at our own speed(s)!

Absolutely, and with our own set of expectations for the outcome

My middle son has a really good job and can't stop complaining that he will never be able to retire

Maybe if he quit going into debt to have a $35,000 quad, and multiple vacations a year, etc and put some money in the bank.....

My daughter is going to be 36 next week and she is by far the most fiscally responsible of the 3 kids, she proudly tells me each month how much her high yield savings has grown, she and her husband bought a house 4 years ago, etc

I honestly think people like this feel that once YOU have invested so much time in thinking about the prospective job, explaining the job, and just expending mental energy to get the job, you would rather cave and meet their budget than write off your wasted time

Here's the catch. I bought a coating a while ago that I don't particularly care for. It's perfectly fine but not on the level of Mohs but it's a professional coating none-the-less. I offered that to him just to clear out my inventory. He has a Civic and the paint is in pretty good condition. I told him I could wash, do a light polish and apply this coating for $500. He declined. He really expects to get a dual layer coating, as well as his windows and trim coated for $500. I should have sent him on his way yesterday evening when he, a grown man in his late 30s, mentioned that he was living with his parents.

Sadly, this is becoming more and more common, kids too lazy or scared or whatever to strike out on their own and make something of themselves

I know there are times and circumstances where life happens and you end up going home to regroup and formulate a new plan but to so many people these days, living with mommy and daddy, ON THEIR DIME, is the plan

I couldn't wait to get out and on my own

Got home from work and cleaned the tires and wheels with Griot's Garage wheel cleaner, 3 brushes used. After the sun went down some more I went back out there and used another RW sitting on the top shelf and further back...Duragloss RW

For those noobs here Duragloss is one of those value brands that just performs, kinda like an American Bilt-Hamber if you will. This has gloss enhancers in it AND cleaned great too. I think I've got enough to do one more RW, might make some up as a QD to finish the bottle actually

Now it's time for R.R. to get some R & R

I

I laid down a layer of BH AF and let it dwell, and I have to admit that running back and forth to the air hose to pump the IK2 up sucked big time. I admit now that I need a IK12. I laid on the AF extra heavy on the grill and back end and let it dwell and followed it up with HW in the MTM cannon, letting that dwell as well

Spend the money on the Batrery powered IKfoam12. It last forever and SO much quieter than those small bike pump used to hack. Poopoo’d it when it came out but 100% worth it.

You could try one of those bike pumps on your foam pro 2.

I use the Xiaomi tire inflator. If he's not detailing multiple cars in a day I'd say it's the way to go. It's small, saves about $70 over getting the IK e Foam Pro 12 and works. Set the PSI to 45 and once it reaches 30 start foaming and you'll have a nice constant stream of foam the entire time using it. One charge can do two large vehicles.

I am looking at the various options here and I appreciate the input

I guess if I bought a 12 I could use the 2 for one more try of Brake Buster and see if foaming it is the difference between WOW and MEH

If you want to get the 12 you can buy through me and I'll have it shipped to you. I can save you a few pennies.

Just out of curiosity I will PM you my details and you could see what it would cost and how much shipping would be

I really appreciate your offer

I'll be getting the 12 (have the 2) but initially using my Milwaukee M18 portable compressor to charge/recharge. The dedicated, attached compressor is hands-down a better solution but I'm a cheap mofo and will assess how much of a nuisance the M18 process is before dropping more $$. Since it's a modular approach it's always easy to add the compressor to the IK unit after the fact.

I have a compressor and I just drag the air line out whenever I use the IK 2 and it probably takes 8 trips to the air chuck per wash session

I thought it would be no big deal but it’s annoying and even if the IK 2 holds enough product to get around a car, the constant back and forth can mean a very uneven dwell time with the first product sprayed getting close to drying on the car before I can get all the way around

Obviously the 12 will hold more product and more air so I’m curious if you just put 2-3 liters of product in it if a single air charge would get you around the car

I tried replying to your last messages but it says your inbox is full.

In 1-3 you'll be the proud owner of an IK Foam Pro 12. Once I get the tracking number, most likely tomorrow, I'll send it your way and when you have room in your inbox I'll send you the receipt.

You'll want an attached air compressor. I find that once the pressure get's below 30 psi the foam isn't so foamy and constantly adding air is less than enjoyable. This is what I use and attached it via velcro straps. I even took one of the Velcro straps that came with some USB-C cables I ordered and made it the perfect size to fit over the sprayer handle and now I don't have to keep squeezing on the handle as I work my way around a vehicle. No carpal tunnel syndrome for me.

I think I'm going to grab another compressor since they are cheaper than when I bought my first and get the Multi 12 and use it for rinseless washes.

Nice to be part of this family

I did a maintenance wash on my wife’s SUV. My customer hasn’t picked up his supplies so I decided to take a few ounces of soap and this was my first time using Hyper Wash. That soap is the same as the way I like my women……Thiccccccccccccccck! I had to squeeze it with a death grip to get it out of the proportioner bottle I put it in but this stuff works. It’s slick and my mitt just glided over the surface. I love Reset for my cars but I’ll happily recommend this to customers. The price and quality make this a no brainer for a good pH neutral soap.

I resisted Hyper Wash for ages, mainly because of that ultra thick consistency. But honestly, it was one of those lightbulb product discoveries for me.

Has that Griot's Garage spout on it
