I also despise wheels bigger than 18”. I want sidewall. More squish for a more comfortable ride, also being in Wyoming I want some tires with lots of meat and squish for snow, ice and off road

I also like having what I like to call "fat" tires, it means I don't have to worry about potholes, speed bumps, or even gutters really. And it lets me play my favourite game with tailgaters, I check if they are taking the same line on the road as me then guide them into potholes and puddles, I also clip the mud on the side of the road and create a spray for them to drive through. It usually takes 3 potholes for them to figure it out and back off.

F N W...with a purpose

So I've got a C&C tomorrow morning and then a meet with the N group here in Chicagoland, so I also get some enjoyment time behind the wheel with a long cruize between shows

Tonight's wash was tough, 91 degrees and I worked an 11 hr day, some Thai food in the tank and I got out there and got after it! The EN just had a couple days of dust and an over night sprinkle on it to contend with, so it was a pretty straightforward wash tonight

I started with a different step...engine bay dressing. I've been VERY IMPRESSED with Koch Chemie Mp, easy to use, basically finishes w/o leveling and leaves a deep sheen. The durability is great, didn't really "need to" do this but peer pressure

Next up was the tire & wheel cleaning, full detail. For Father's Day I got a Griot's Garage gift certificate and I used 2 tools I bought with some of the gift, a lug brush and these wheel cleaning mitten things...VERY impressed with these 2 items, made a deep cleaning THAT more rewarding, Brake Buster doing its usual maintence magic

Next was the 1st of a 2 part touchless wash, first was 4 oz of P&S Frostbite in the Griot's Garage foam gun. Once it swelled and I rinsed it off we moved to step #2, Griot's Garage Ceramic Wash and Coat...gotta use this more often! Now when I rinsed the Frostbite off the beads were CRAZY, was wearing Griot's Garage Best of Show spray wax from a couple days ago, so it made sense but after rinsing off the Griot's Garage Ceramic Wash & Coat...my God the B E A D S

Used free flowing water to make it easier, dried with a Chemical Guys large mf drying towel, designated mf for the tires & wheels, as well as engine bay that had some water and ocoarse all jams

I finished up by applying some TW Mr. Cartoon Tire Coat. Now I scrubbed the tires to clean them a bit but I did cheat the last washes by "topping up" the tires with Adam's VRT but I think they were clean enough to apply the product, I mean it looked nice going on

Now the EN is ready to CRUIZE tomorrow...predicted high tomorrow...96 degrees

Up and at it. After a preverbal week from HELL at work because of the heat, I was out at 5:30 AM for the Maintenace. wash on the ZR2. Also gave the RAV4 A good once over. All done by 8 AM. They wanted us to come in today for 4 hours! OH, HELL NO! Used 1/2 a personal day. It was a 46-hour week as is. Good grief.

Ah, you're harking back to the day, back in the last century, when you could "curb" and only scuff your tire, not scrape your $700 wheel.

Mum's Qashqai is going in for a service this week, so a tidy up of the interior was in order, the exterior is good to go.

It only needed a wipe down with TWHS Inside Job and a vacuum of the carpets. My Mum mainly uses it for picking up the great grand kids from school and daycare. Can anyone with kids please explain to me how it is that small children always have sand leaking from their shoes, regardless of what they've been doing.

No, as nice as it looks, to me, it's just a base model, and a very common car around here, probably 4 or more the same model just in my local neighbourhood, but none in the same colour, most are white, so boring.

So after a day of crazing out to 2 meets yesterday and apparently a storm overnight I decided to clean up the EN and head to the FuelFed C&C this morning.

The EN wasn't too dirty but the wheels had it's share of brake dust so I sprayed some DIY Detail Iron Remover on them all, then foamed down everything with P&S Frostbite (finished off the bottle) in the Griot's Garage foam gun, let dwell and rinsed everything away

I then took the EN around the block and used P&S Dream Maker as a drying aid and finished up. I'm now about to head to the show...Stay "tuned"

Snagged these off a buddys dad a while ago. He got rid of the car that these went on in the summers. Came off a cadillac DTS. Never seen winter. I found some factory used buick center caps and swapped out the cadillac ones. I cleaned them up finally and coated them with some left over ADS quartz i had in the fridge.

Soon to be mounted up on the buick for the new summer wheels. My factory buick wheels are overall in decent shape but showing some wear. These outta give it a nice enhancement.

Im sure eldo will disaprove running cadillac wheels on a non cadillac car lol

I’ve tried a lot of matte dressings for my huskies. Best longevity and evenness I got was from a product’s off use. In Adam’s winter prep video they used there graphene spray coating for exterior on Matt’s. Decided to try and it worked great. Good for exterior trim too.

Better than a. Sealant on paint but not coating like.

I tried Perl at 3:1 and it didn’t do anything, but I think part of that is these Lexus factory mats, especially the rear one, have some ungodly strong mold release or something that’s preventing anything from getting a grip on the material

I have washed the fronts a couple of times but just using car shampoo and I have never washed the rear

I’ve have had a cargo liner in there since almost day 1

I need to try some straight up APC and see what it does to break down whatever is on the surface

I think I can get that Adams product you mentioned locally

I’ll give it a whirl

Another that I've been impressed with is from Technicians Choice - Black Fusion... this is the same company that makes the better known Ceramic Detail Spray.

It's a bit harder to source (Amazon is easiest) but one coat has done quite well for 6 months now.

I did some glass work on the FJ today, first up I cleaned the external glass with a glass cleaner I mixed using a washer bottle additive and a GP MF. Then did the interior with Krystal Klear Bubble Gum Blitz on a Bowden's Glass Mitt. Followed by a Glaco treatment on the windshield, wiped off with a damp lint free cloth.

I also cleaned all the windows at the front of our house while I was at it, once you start, you can't stop. Cue the elderly ladies walking past telling me I have to come and do their windows next.

McKee's Floor Mat Cleaner is well worth looking at. Previous to that, I had been using APC with limited results, but the McKee's teamed with the DF Tire Brush is an excellent combo.



For dressing, I have/had been using KCx GUF, which is an anti-slip rubber dressing. Lately though, I've been really liking P&S Swift for rubber floor mats. This stuff has some cleaning ability on its own, but the drawcard here is the very mild amount of dressing it has, so it subtly enhances without being a slip hazard. Unlike GUF which smells like IPA, Swift has a delightful scent. I actually use Swift to refresh rubber mats between more serious cleaning by simply vacuuming, then soaking down with Swift and scrub with a towel.

I had another lovely conversation with a prospective customer.

The owner has a new CRV and by new he means purchased in December of 22 but it’s in really good condition he and his wife repeatedly tell me. I quote him $850 for a single layer of Mohs or $1100 for CLS+EXOv5. “Wow, you’re expensive. The dealership was going to coat my Suburban for $900” and we all know how wonderful dealership coatings are. Once I explain that the dealership is going to apply a $50 spray sealant they both, the wife joined via 3 way calling, go on and on about how well maintained their car is and I should give them a discount and do the two layer coating for $900. I tell them that I do not negotiate on price and now they want to come by Thursday to show me in person how wonderfully maintained the vehicle is. Mind you, the wife mentioned that she is the one that hand washes the CRV and I can only guess what this vehicle is going to look like considering that she sounds like she’s well into her 50s.

Imagine the sadness you could be setting them up for when you introduce them to swirls, and show them what a vehicle without swirls looks like. I like the look people get on their faces when you explain the difference between washing and detailing.
