What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Did a bit of a ooops.

Someone, not pointing fingers (my son) scratched my 'hog', I think with handle of his bike.

Hit it with a microfiber pad and some Megs UC and got a little too aggressive. Burned a little through the paint. Disappointing, yes, but it's rolling 25k+ miles and overall excellent condition, so it is what it is. Hit the tank as well for a quick cleanup.

In 2nd pic, you can see the gold color just behind the 0. 3rd and 4th pic are before and after on the tank.

I finally put a a couple nails on the wall to get my 3 bucket dolly off the garage floor. I had to move some cabinets that had my detailing stuff down about 6 inches to get the needed space. I had a spare 2 bucket dolly that I gave to my brother in law.

Maintenance wash on the truck Friday early evening. Been humid here as of late. Worked in cloudy conditions. No sun, no issues. Finished with flex wax as a rinse wax. Tires got #253.

Got the red '67 paint brightened up. Had to hit some water stain spots from a car cover that got wet and stained the paint, with flex rotary/rupes wool pad and 3d 510. Can still barely see them if you know where to look but its not obvious now. Not much paint left on the car so i opt'ed for not chasing them away 100%. Megs#7 helped paint overall but did nothing for the stains. I had hooed otherwise.

Then hit everything with supabeast lc white force pads and 3d 520. Final wipedown with ADS ceramic sealant and a final touch with ADS amplify.

Before with stains shots.

I was in Detroit for 4 days, didn't take the EN, so I needed to give it a wash this morning (love having a day off after a trip!)

I decided on a foam/dwell/rinse using the Griot's Garage foam gun filled with 4 oz of Griot's foaming surface wash & 2 oz of Griot's Brillant Shine snow foam, giving it "a little extra"

While dwelling I turned my attention to the rims. For this I used recently acquired Griot's Garage Citrus multi purpose cleaner @5:1. Now the rim weren't too dirty but this product looks promising for sure, atleast for my needs

Once done with the rinsing of the car & the tires/wheels, I finished off my bottle of Meg's HCW @4:1. I didn't like that product from the 1st time I used it when it came out, remember the directions for that sh!t

I then did a quick dry, took the EN around the block and finished drying it off, also doing the usual drying of jams and engine bay wipedown as well

At some point later I'll be getting the oil changed, it's been 6 monthes. For this oil change I'll be using Motul 5w40 full synthetic & Wix filter, the best combo IMO

I picked up Griots Interior Detailer as I search for a new one. My needs are light cleaning, all surface including nav screen safe, anti dust, a little UV, and a scent (something on the clean side).

I have it too, just haven't tried it yet but looking forward to it

It’s not technically detailing but I am using detailing equipment.

I used my Active 2.0 and my Ryobi undercarriage cleaner (it makes a great concrete cleaner when inverted) to clean off my driveway, sidewalk and back porch. I’m a bit ashamed of how dirty the back porch was. I’ve been too focused on the front and my cars but the rest of the house needs some TLC now.

I did a quick test of Griot's Interior Detailer. 22 oz.

I had purchased off Amazon for around $11.99 (shipping included). I did a side by side with Meg's QID on a plastic mat and later in a vehicle. Griot's was very similar to Meg's (color, consistently) and leaves surface natural (biggie for me) like QID. It is watery and not more soapy or lotion like so wipes off easily. I did not test its cleaning abilities but this was not a goal for something to use regularly.

Griots had a different scent described as "citrus fresh and clean". I am not if that is what it smells like but tried it out and left no lingering smell on the interior in one of our cars. It added minimal sickness to coated leather seats too.

Griot's description:

Interior Detailer maintains a natural look and feel for your interior surfaces, effectively dusting and lightly cleaning them while delivering protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Further, unique anti-static technology resists dust build up on interior surfaces. Interior Detailer is safe for use on vinyl, leather, wood, painted trim, metal, carbon fiber, plastic, and even NAV screens. Get a natural, crisp, streak-free, original OEM finish with no greasy feel or residue. Simply mist and wipe using a Dual Weave Interior Towel. Interior Detailer is silicone free and leaves your cabin smelling citrus fresh and clean.

Maintain the look and feel of all your interior surfaces, effectively dust and lightly clean them while delivering tough UV protection.
Makes quick work of dust, dirt, and fingerprints
Safe on vinyl, leather, metal, plastic, glass, and NAV screens
Unique anti-static technology resists dust build up
Wipes clean leaving no greasy feel or residue
Adds a fresh citrus scent to your cabin

It is too early to report on anti-static properties.

I scraped off 1,500 miles of bugs splatted on the minivan. I do like Poor Boys Bug Squash used with a Pinnacle Safe Scrub sponge, the bugs come right off!!!

I did a rinseless on the wife’s SUV. It didn’t look dirty but there were a few bugs so I went for it and used DIY Rinseless for the first time. I must say I’m impressed with the amount of dirt that came off of the vehicle and I think it has more cleaning power than ONR. It took all of 25 minutes to make the SUV spotless.

I’ve got a few bottles of Gyeon Eco Wash that will be here in a few hours and can’t wait to see how that performs. I’m hoping it’s as good as others have said and if so it’s what I’ll be recommending to customers.

People have been saying that about Bug Squash for years now so it’s gotta be some good stuff

I’ll have to try it out

Wash day for the FJ, we've got some reasonable weather for the next couple of days so I thought I'd take advantage.

Wheels first with Bowden's Wheely Clean, they didn't look too bad but the close up shows lots of purple bleeding off, and my rusty nuts.

Foamed it up with NV Snow next, lovely thick stuff, I even had enough to get underneath and spray the diff and rear suspension.

I was going to do a 2B wash with Reset next, but it really didn't need it. So I moved it inside, cleaned and dried the glass with Carpro Clarify Phobic first, as the glass seems to dry quicker and water spot worse than the paint, next I did a sort of hybrid drying/QD/RW with Ech2o on the paint.

I then went over all the black trim with Carpro Perl @ 3:1, and did the tyres with Perl @ 1:1.

Random thouhhts

I have been watching a lot of videos (reviews) and looking at product website and noticed that McKee's 37 and Adam's seem to have gone in a similar direction regarding the
"graphene" lines. We know Adam's uses B & B Blending as their chemist/blender.

I am wondering what the consumer expectation is for ceramiics. Dealers sell it as a paint warranty but make no real claims on other characteristics (hydrobics) that most youtube use as a method to assess characteristics. Some ceramic sellers say the coating can get clogged and needs to be unclogged such as with something acidic. Dealer's warranty from what I see only cover fading, peeling, etc. and not just normal water spots.

After many days of neglect, I decided to do something about it

I opted for a Gyeon ECO wash and I couldn't have been happier, just love this product, infact its my 2024 Product of the Year (which means ZERO)

It had lots of water spots and stains on it, washed off easily and left my paint glossy as hell, although it's currently wearing a coat of Nv Lustre and when pre-treating each section the beading was CRAZY
