Mother's CMX CERAMIC SPRAY COATING

I’m tryin to look at the darkened paint but all I can see is all that ankle dorsiflexion you got going on.

Is that heel on the ground? Are you gumby?????

CMX to the left, CanCoat on the right. Will put another coat of each on tomorrow and let this thing go forth into the NE Ohio winter. Maintenance going forward for the foreseeable future will be, well...none. Maybe a touchless tunnel wash just for giggles. Not gonna throw acid, APC or oil or anything else at it...just gonna leave it to it`s own devices out there in the wild.

Edit: Hood was prepped and polished as would be normal for any coating application.

What I like real world testing :)

Otherwise known as 'Lazy Guy Testing'.

I wouldn't say that at all, most of my testing it set it and forget it, because that real. its what 99% of us are going to go through. I tried the chemical test and it was really just a waste of time and I really didn't get anything out of it. "wow break cleaner removed all the sealant!!!!, guess ill never driver though a touchless brake cleaner wash again" I mean come on its not real I understand knowing limits but to say, I applied product X that is supposed to stand up to PH of 9 and last 6 months and I wash with a PH of 4 and it last 3 months that tells me something

I like your approach.

What people fail to realise is that a PH neutral wash doesn’t neutralise the ph of your paint or coating. It is itself ph neutral.

So applying an acid or alkali may result in the chemical reaction continuing after rinsing or washing if it isn’t neutralised.

This can lead to an effect some refer to as ‘masking’ and what most you tubers experience when they spray a product like an iron remover, rinse and observe the reduced hydrophobicity. And also why a good rewash will ‘restore’ the coating.

Do you guys like that megs cwax and mother’s Cmx have a thicker than the other toppers. I like that they aren’t thin and runny. Cancoat even though it was thin you knew from that distinctive smell and flashing you were dealing with a coating product.

I received my bottle yesterday but and did the hood on my Hyundai Kona and it came out Amazing . Going out today and to finish the vehicle !

for me I'm thinking of using megs cw, only because of how it works on a wet panel and is very easy to work with and dries the panel. ive also started cutting it with different amounts of distilled water to see how it plays and hold up. so far my car has actually stayed cleaner longer then it normally is, but theres also a few other factors that can be playing a part in that as well. so not 100% sure. the touchfree car wash that I normally go to is closed ATM so I'm waiting for it to open back up and see how clean the car comes out after a run through.

my initial application was applied in a drying aid manner because that's how I plan on using one or both of these products. I just like the way the megs goes on better as a drying aid but I like mothers for initial application.

Did you toss your towels like Forrest recommended?

So I just did half of my hood with cmx and the other already has 2 coats of hcw. No water test because I just put it on. Honestly I think both of these products will be fine I really can't even tell a difference. I like them both. I don't like if have to throw towels away every time I use cmx though. I will save the towel I used to apply and see what happens to it. Im glad I did this now because we have a 30 degree temp swing this afternoon

Looks great! How'd it do on all the black trim?

Let me clarify, this is certainly not a Mothers recommendation, it’s just something I do personally. As you can imagine, I have a plethora of towels at my disposal, so it’s just easier, for me personally, to dispose of them. Albeit, maybe not the most economical solution. With that said, I do know that back at Mothers HQ, all towels are laundered and continue to be used. I will reach out to get the details as to the exact methods we use back at HQ, and will report back soon. Thank you all!

P.S. - as Rrthomas78 mentioned, it’s not a bad idea to differentiate your towels, and keep your towels to a specific use (similar to how people differentiate buffer pads for different products). Again, I know that’s what we do back at HQ.

This product is really gaining a fan base and I for one am impressed because I would've never thought a major mfg would put out a product that performs like this. I mean, when you think about it, ofcoarse a major mfg CAN do something like this because they've got the budget and the R&D but never seem to do so....until now!

I'm going to be curious to find out what the self-cleaning properties are like with something like this, seems the application and gloss are there, now for the next thing....self-cleaning ability. Now down the road, say 3 months, I'm going to be paying attention to the durability because I always cut the "projected" amount of time in half, except with concentrated coatings, glad I'm subscribed and can't wait till this is readily available, not to mention their new soap, anyone excited for IT?
