Hey there people. :xyxthumbs:

It’s been a fair while since I have shared a ‘Show N’ Shine’ & although I have lost my ‘before’ pictures due to technology stealing them I figured this car was pretty enough just to show off the ‘afters’.

So lately I have been getting an influx of cars from a couple of local body shops wanting that finishing touch. For me this is a compliment because obviously they see us as good enough to finish what they started.

On the other hand - I’m proud of these two ‘youngsters’ (both young painters that have gone out on their own & opened shop) for taking that step to properly ‘finish’ the vehicles they work on.

So this ‘54 Ford had just been completed after a seven year restoration. Overall when it got to me it wasn’t too bad. It had the holograms I was expecting, the compound in the grooves & gaps, & its share of overlooked overspray in the glass & bright work. The interior was pretty good, the usual build fingerprints & body shop dust was present but no big deal.

Interior was treated to a thorough vacuum, glass cleaning & the tin work was done with CarPro Reload for a bit of gloss & protection. :xyxthumbs:

The exterior was attacked like so - waterless wash with CarPro ech2o, with plenty of attention to those gaps & crevices, engine bay etc & after a few spots of overspray was found, a fine clay ensured a clean, smooth surface. A thorough IPA wipe down with Eraser to see the true condition of the paintwork. Aside from the holograms inflicted by the painter after having done the wet sanding side of things there were only a few areas where sanding marks, de nibbling was apparent. Easy stuff really.

Test spot revealed that Lake Country Orange SDO pads with 3D ONE removed any defects with around six passes & switching out to Lake Country White Hybrid Force pads for the refining steps, again with 3D ONE. LSP - Feynlab Ceramic Lite. :buffing:

On to the Beauty shots.

Holy smokes that thing is straight! And flawless. :dblthumb2:

Great colors for that car. Really nice to see one done so tastefully versus some of the stuff you see at the big shows. (I know, to each their own). I bet the owner was thrilled!

Awesome work as always man!

That just might be the nicest blue I’ve ever seen. I could only imagine cruisin the island in that beauty. Amazing work as always my Kiwi Brother.

Thanks Tony. :xyxthumbs:

Yeah buddy, I like it that these guys care about what they produce enough to let someone else (me:xyxthumbs:) finish the job in a way that they perhaps haven't learned, or simply don't have the time to invest in doing so. Thanks for chiming in Tony.

Cheers Klasse Act. :xyxthumbs:

It sure was a great Blue! :dblthumb2: I'm not the biggest fan of Blue. it just isn't me but yeah, this was stunning.

Wow what a stunning color! Great job bud.

Thank you my friend. :xyxthumbs:

Agreed! Appreciate your comment Justin. :props:

Looks like a candy color, candy blue!

Nice work as always Aaryn!

Hard to believe they went to all the work to move all the controls to the right hand side not only inside the car but under the hood.

:)

Thank you Mike. :xyxthumbs:

Haha, I forget you guys think we are 'wrong side drive'. Actually, Ford Australia imported the chassis & front sheet metal for these but built the body etc in Australia, so as new, these were right hand drive down this way . . . or 'wrong side drive' perhaps. :xyxthumbs:

Thank you Farmallluvr. :xyxthumbs:

Awh cool, Thats awesome you have a connection with one. This was a nice build, I was a little surprised just how sweetly this thing ran . . . it was faultless.

Holy smokes that thing is straight! And flawless. :dblthumb2:

Cheers oneheadlite. :xyxthumbs:

Absolutely! I don't know the history of this one very well but I do know this is the second resto back to back. The first was a failure in terms of quality issues but now, now this thing is remarkable, incredibly straight indeed. I too like how its been finished - like you said 'each to their own' but for me I'd struggle to change anything on this '54. Appreciate your comments John. :props:

Thank you Don my Brother. :xyxthumbs:

Yes indeed! Like I said to Klasse Act, Blue just isn't my colour but this one, this one I think I could live with. :props: Haha, funny you say that, as I was working on it it was a stunning day out & I did infact imagine cruising down the East Coast . . . Hills on one side, Pasific Ocean on the other, Sun in the sky . . . this sweetie just purring away . . oh yeah! :props:

Engine bay picture for anyone curious what was under the bonnet . . . Or ‘hood’ as you folks say.

The paint and the color on that car are superb! It is great to see a classic car as factory original and factory perfect as that machine is. Thank you for preserving history. The only problem is, the damn steering wheel and pedals are on the wrong side.
