CG's Citrus Wash...does it strip LSP's?

Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss contains Dodecylbenzen which is a surfactant found commonly in laundry detergents, I believe this combined with the gloss enhancers are clogging your LSP. The ph rating of cg cw&g is 8, meguiars hyper wash has a ph rating of 9-9.8 and it doesn't have any adverse effects on LSPs. So I believe it is safe to say the cause is not related to the cg cw&g being too aggressive of a cleaner and is more related to the surfactant not being able to rinse off completely.

I would love to see that video.

Did he find any chemical that managed to strip the sealant? Like solvent based or something?

I would imagine that solvent based products can strip most sealant. I have run across one car I could not strip no matter what I did, so I don't know what the dealer put on it but even with grease and wax remover, the wax (or what ever it was) would come loose when I sprayed the the solvent on it, and it would go solid again as I tried to wipe if off. I tried compounding it, polishing it, using clay, it would damage it and remove a bit of it but would not take it off. Craziest thing I have ever seen.

Thank you for the comments guys, seems there's a film on there afterwards, so hopefully I washed that layer off last night when I did a RW using the brand new Griot's Garage Brillant Shine RW. I'm also going to do a simple pre-wash foaming tonight using the also new Mother's Triple wash, just foaming it, dwell time and rinse as the car will be just dusty from todays drive to and from work. Once I spray the stuff off we'll see how it looks but then again I did apply 2x's Meguairs Cersmic Hybrid "wax".

The guy who tested with a mirror only got the sealant off with nasty acid-based wheel cleaner.

I think that's the age old question. What can you use to strip sealants, waxes other then polishing them off the surface ? This senior Geek is always looking for something that is easy to use so my aches and pains don`t come back :)

In all honesty, ABC is the answer for me. Been using it for the better half of ten years with the results I want.

LSP = Last Step Product

I can't be the only one wondering. :)

+1 on this. When I worked at Lonestar auto tint my boss attempted Coating his car and then proceeded to wash it with CG Wash and gloss weekly and it clogged the Coating within a month. I offered him advice on what type of soaps to use but he shook his head when he heard the initial price. Can’t help everyone!

Everyone has been awesome on this, thanks! I should remind everyone that I did a 2BM wash after the pre-wash foaming using the CG's Citrus wash. I would've thought that would take care of anything left behind but it didn't. I think I used Gyeon Bathe IIRC, oh well, it's all good and I know now to save that product for "other" uses.

not to hijack the thread....but Griots claims it's Surface Prep can dissolve waxes and sealants.....likely older applications I'm sure...anyone have any experience with this stuff?

That was the stuff that was eating the bottle...so yeah maybe that will do something. Makes you wonder how safe it is for you when it's not safe for the bottle.

Griot's Garage pulled it off of the shelves when there was a problem with it, so now that it's back I'm sure the issue has been corrected, I trust them!

That doesn't change the fact that it was eating the bottle, and they had to change the material. And to quote Fox Mulder...trust no one!

So I take it you don't trust the new formula? I mean that's fine and its your right for sure but when I need to do a strip wash it's going to be the first product I reach out to buy.
