LSP protection

I was reading through some different descriptions of different LSPs, and noticed that Klasse said that it was scratch-resistant, Liquid Glass raved about being so 'carbon' tough and slick, while Surf City combo again raved about how slick it was.

I am REALLY interested in a LSP that can protect really well, especially against scratching as I will be doing ONR washes to my car (apartment complex) and parking in a dirt lot during the work day. Does Klasse really protect against scratching, or do you guys know of one that does?

I really doubt that Klasse will protect your finish from scratching...not even from light swirls...

Just repeating what it said:
High Gloss Sealant Glaze creates an elastic, non-chip, shrink-proof, heat and scratch resistant - protective seal

The question still remains though, looks aside, what LSP protects the best, and will release dirt the easiest. If someone does have some more info on the scratch resistant claim, please chime in!

:iagree: and really doubt that you will find any LSP that would prevent scratches or chips. That said I'd really like to be proven wrong. It would be nice to find one that would.

With that aside then, the second part of the question. From what I understand, Zymol Vintage is legendary for its ability to sheet water off and not letting anything stick to the surface (stuff literally rinses off), but I don't have $2000 to shell out for a wax.

What kind of wax will offer that kind of protection? I'm not concerned about durability, just its ability to protect.

Klasse?Dont think so.I just scratched my door with the leaf blower cord (darn). But it has been may fave AIO.
When doing ONR, just use good microfiber towels and mitts.
If youre after durability, i suggest KSG for sealants and collinite 915 or 845 for carnaubas. hope this helps

I have used collinite 845 and I am very impressed with it's durability and beading action especially with the salt on the roads! But... as far as scratches.... the proper two bucket wash technique will is your best defense. ;) Do you have a car wash were you can do a good rinse (water only)before you use the ONR? With chips well... that is something we all worry about every time we drive. Not a lot of suggestions for preventing those.

The closest that I've seen to just rinse stuff off is DG #105 w/AW. I am far from trying all products though.

Let me see if I can't explain myself a little better.

Durability means nothing to me, as I actually love waxing my car. One month of protection is plenty, and 2 or more is a blessing. Since I can ONLY do ONR washes, I am looking for something that will allow me to be as gentle as possible on the paint (meaning less swirls), and make washing/cleaning it a breeze. Something that will not allow containments to embed themselves and then require me to do nothing but lightly glide the mit across.

Anyone have experience with that or am I just asking too much from a wax?

I have never found any LSP that truly protects against scratches. I have found proper washing, drying, and wiping techniques can reduce swirls and scratches.

:iagree: I believe an LSP protects the paint from the sun and other enviromental contaminants but thats it.

Ok ok, I gave up on the scratch-resistant idea a few posts ago.

I'm trying to decide what wax protects the best against those environmental containments and not allowing them to bond to the surface.

So far, I'm looking into Klasse and Collnite. Any other recomendations? If you recommend Collnite, which one because 4 different ones were mentioned already?

:whs: DG105 leaves the surface nice and slick. Most of the dirt comes off with just a pre-rinse. I know you probably aren't using a pre-rinse with the ONR, just trying to give you an idea of how easy the dirt comes off.

Well chalk it up another one for DG. At work so I can't see what DG105 is (they blocked autogeek.net, but not autogeekonline...shrugs) but I will have to check it out when I get home.

I had another person bring up how they just absolutely loved Zymol Titatiam, and then a few others highly recommended Collnite, but never mentinoed which one. I'm still waiting for a few more gift certificates to come in so I can make my order from Autogeek :)

To add to this, from what I've gathered from a few people is that it is the carnuaba is what allows the LSP to release dirt with ease, so my question is those with Pinnacle waxes or such, how are those with protection? Is this even a valid statement?

Something else that I just thought I might have some fun with is making my own wax! Could be a fun little way to pass the time and feed my addiction :D

Basically, if I have learned anything through my research on this matter, it is that you just gotta try everything and form your own opinion.

just another option for you... Crytal-glo acrylic. They too make the scratch resistant claim. Not sure if there's any subtance to that, but I can tell you that you can actually "feel" the difference. Produces a squeaky, plasticky feel, and a super glassy sheen.

So I've decided I want a Collnite wax, but not sure which one to get as they all make simular claims. Based purely on protection, which one would be the best choice? They all more or less make the same claims, so I'm stumped here!

Collinite 845 Insulator Wax goes on and comes off easy enough but the smell reminds me of Gasoline!
