Longest lasting AIO?

I see you have done this with Pinnacle Jeweling Wax (which correct me if I'm wrong does not indicate that it has any "natural" wax in the formula), but what about using PNS on top of HD Speed (which I believe contains Montan wax in the formula?) or Mckee's 37 Jeweling Wax which contains Carnauba?

I put SONAX PNS over the top of any one-step cleaner/wax or AIO.

I teach this in my classes too. I don't really care what it's in any cleaner/wax. I have never seen an issue with toping an AIO with PNS - and if you only hit the horizontal surfaces it's fast. If you're detailing cars for money, I share why to do this in my class.


The thing about SONAX PNS is it's a tick sticky to wipe off if you let it sit on the paint too long. So ONLY apply to one panel and then wipe off. When you wipe off, start where you started and then follow your path-of-travel.

Essence by itself is not hydrophobic. Essence Plus is.

Essence does protect though, but not hydrophobic, interesting. I guess this is why everyone coats it (duh) or at least uses SiO2 toppers?

Funny it mentions nothing about carnauba wax on the product page

After more than an hour of researching old threads, I can’t find proof that PSJW has carnauba. There’s a thread where numerous members assume it has carnauba, as they talk about carnauba attracting dust... but even that thread has a couple people questioning if Jeweling waxes really do. Here are the only indicators that made me assume PSJW has carnauba:

1) McKee's Jeweling Wax states on Mckees website that it has carnauba: “McKee's 37 Jeweling Wax is a sophisticated blend of gentle cleaners, micro abrasives and rich carnauba wax.” I always assumed that PSJW would be a similar, Pinnacle version with similar ingredients since Mckees is not owned by PBMG anymore and they wanted to get some market share from a similar product.

2) Pinnacle is known for natural ingredients, particularly their high grade carnauba. I would like to assume if they call a product a “wax”, it’s because it has carnauba wax. The bottle of PSJW also states “specialized wax”. So we know they are purposely using the term wax, it’s not just erroneously part of the product name.

3) It bares the “Souveran” name. The other 3 Souveran’s (Paste, Liquid, Spray) are all known for high quality carnauba.

4) The website recommends maintaining with Souveran Spray and Crystal Mist, both carnauba products. While this doesn’t prove anything, generally the recommended maintenance products have synergistic similarities with the LSP, and being that this is Pinnacle, I would like to think it’s not just the crystalline polymers they share, as these seem to be secondary to the carnauba in Pinnacle most Pinnacle marketing.

With all this said, I’m disappointed I could not find confirmation from someone at PBMG (maybe even Mike) that the protection in PSJW is essentially Liquid Sovereign which has carnauba. I recall seeing that when this came out, I usually have good memory and even take notes due to my love & OCD for these products. Maybe I got ahead of myself with the PSJW / carnauba assumption.

I took this advice 8 months ago but applied the PNS to all surfaces, not just the horizontal. Also hit it with Sonax BSD every 2-3 washes. Still glossy, clean and like new... I would really recommend this regiment for simplicity and looks, and the BSD is the most hydrphobic product I've used. Strongly recommend.

Correct. Essence leaves TiO2 and maybe some kind of SiO2 after it. The most it leaves is a resin that have a filling ability from it. Note it's not the filling that you might think that it covers up deeper defects. It's more fine than that and fill in the already polished clearcoat to obtain an even more flat surface. Hence the high gloss you experience with it. In the beginning I'm almost certain it had primer in it's name. Now it's only extreme gloss enhancer. What I can remember this came out as a primer for the Carpro Cquartz coatings. Essence Plus was made for repairing the cquartz coatings. Essence is the primer and go under the coating and Essence Plus is what you apply over a coating and can not be coated over with cquartz coatings. Then after this it happens to work well as a Essence twins combo with Essence as base and Essence Plus on top. Then also to get the hydrophobic caractics from Essence you can apply Reload on top of it. Both Essence and Essence Plus was designed to be polished with the Carpro Glosspad only.

I have not played around with Essence. But when you have done the polishing part 2-4 passes per section with the Glosspad. It's recommended to ad pressure on the polisher and a little higher speed to induse heat. This is to activate the filling resin part of the Essence. And this is also what many just skip to do. If they gets the same results with useing it as a finishing polish I don't know. And I think that it's on microscopic level these resins fills in the valleys in the clearcoat. Would be interesting to see if it where able to test this out on a longturn test.

Agree 100% with all of your points... and yet find it very strange that PSJW is not “marketed” as having any natural carnauba wax content. Ultimately it doesn’t really matter, but I do find it odd.

Interestingly, it is also true of HD Speed (no mention of Montan wax content in the product description). Speed has been discussed ad nauseam on this forum and somewhere along the way it was mentioned that some form of Poxy is the sealant component within the AIO formula. It is even recommended to top Speed with Poxy by HD for better longevity. And yet, no where in the product description for Speed does it say anything about containing natural wax content. Odd.

For me, I’ll just stick with a traditional polish (vs. using an AIO) and then select my LSP of choice. I am a hobbyist and don’t detail for a living.

I will probably be doing a gloss pad application to my wife’s car in June, and possibly test out a white or orange polishing pad on my car. I won’t be able to test durability as I plan to use SiO2 toppers all summer/fall, but can compare/beading/slickness.

That just goes to show you have more energy than me. :laughing:

Also hit it with Sonax BSD every 2-3 washes. Still glossy, clean and like new... I would really recommend this regiment for simplicity and looks, and the BSD is the most hydrphobic product I've used.

Strongly recommend.

Good is relative. It cuts well for an AIO. And yes both melt into the paint. Only a quick buff required.
