Setting up my HHR for detailing

I seen a couple topics here, and the HHR Panel makes a great rig for detailing. Great on gas is a huge plus. I plan on taking out the passenger seat for more room.
I was looking at getting a 40 gallon tank and came across this
Tractor supply spot near me that sell something similar. Dont have to pay for shipping
I have a 1600psi 1.2 gpm ryobi, and i picked up the upgrade kit from MTM (50' kobrajet hose, sg-28, etc..)
Just trying to get an idea how this combo would work before purchasing the setup from northerntool

Look up “Detail Groove” on youtube. He uses an HHR as his detail rig and can provide alot of useful information on it.

I seriously considered buying a Chevy HHR because of him.

IMO:
If the tires/brakes/suspension are in
good shape...then the HHR should
easily handle the additional load
of approximately 400 lbs.

Then: a gallon of water weighs ~8 lbs.
40gals of water = ~320 lbs. (334 lbs.)

Add that to:

40 gal. tank’s Specs:

I already have an hhr. Detail groove doesn't have a tank. I just wanted to see if this combo would work. The tank in the pics will fit in the cargo area

Just put new tires and brakes. Suspension is good. The 66 lbs is the shipping weight, so when unpackaged, it would be much lighter. The tank will fit. I can pick this tank setup without the shipping cost at tractor supply which I have one local

Please be sure to keep that weight in mind when mounting your tank. Don’t skimp on mounting hardware/load distributing washers/plates.

I see it a lot on race cars with ballast weight added - too small of hardware used that’ll keep the weight in place under most normal circumstances, but with the extra forces involved in a crash there’s no way it would hold - now you’ve got a very heavy object loose in the passenger compartment with you...

The hhr panel has hookups so I can strap down the tank with ratchet tie downs.

Missed that it’s a panel (and didn’t know they had tie down provisions). Cool!

Keep in mind the recommended total load capacity (occupants+cargo) as noted on the door jam label ... I think it's somewhere around 800# for the HHR IIRC. Another thing to consider is that even with the tank firmly held in place, weight distribution could still be affected by the water within the tank "moving" around as you corner, brake, etc. So, adjust your driving style accordingly.

It's a 2011 Panel so 900#. I plan on removing the passengers seat, so this will give me more room and a little weight reduction.I agree with driving style changing. Not a problem
