I have had people ask me sometimes about a little time saver I do when using 3D ONE. Now this doesn't always work but when it does it can cut down time. This Lexus Lx570 had paint that responded well to this.

I cut with my 21mm and microfiber cutting pad. Then I leave the residue on the paint and switch to a finishing pad with a drop or two of ONE then proceed to finish polish before wiping off.

Interesting way of doing a one step... Well... it's really a 1.5 step ;)

Not having to wipe between the first and second step does save a lot of time. I might have to give this a try.

How long does it take you to do a whole vehicle (say a midsize car) using that technique?

I won't be using 3D one anymore, I just hate how hard that thing is to wipe off. And since I normally use one steps before coating, having to spend 3 to 4 times longer to degrease the panel is not worth it for me. Love that it doesn't dust but I will go back to Meguiars products for now ;)

2-3 hours tops. The key with one is a little bit of product. You should be able to see right thorugh it as its worked in.

Good job and thanks for posting. I have a black Supra coming to me next month that I may use the bottle of 3D ONE that I've not really ever used. I've just found many other better products that truly allow for a one step correction.

3d one works well for me. I add a couple of plops of speed to the pad and it helps tremendously with the wipe off.
It takes very little one to do a great job. If it's hard to remove, it's probably too much product or paint is hot. Try a couple of little drops of speed and see if that helps.

Very good idea I will be using this on every detail I can starting tomorrow. I will try to apply your method with as many one steps as possible.

Glad I’m not the only one having problems with 3D One. The wipe off is horrible. I’ve tried it 3 times and every time it reminds me of trying to remove 1970’s Liquid Turtle Wax. Maybe we got a bad batch, but I’m not willing to buy more to find out.

Funny that 3D Polish+ has none of these problems.

Were the chemists at 3D too quick to release this?

I'm a big fan of 3D, but I have heard way too many negative things about 3D One from guys that have extensive time using and testing a lot of products.

Bummer.

Used the “1.5 step” today save an hour I have never used 3d one. I used the process with a diffentproduct worked well. I bet meguiars 110 would work in 1.5 step range I was just about to buy 3D one but the last set of comments about tough wipe off made me pump brakes detailing is tough enough no need to sign up for that type of issue.

3D ONE is not “hard” to remove. It doesn’t stick to paint and it doesn’t take a lot of elbow grease. What it does take is a lot of swipes. On the oily side for sure. I still like it, however.

There have been some folks that have had your experience and then others (including me) that have had serious wipe off problems. I get a hard residue that is very difficult to wipe off no matter how I use it. I’ve tried it 3 times at different temperatures and different humidities and it always is very hard to wipe off. It almost sounds like two different batches went out. 50% like it and 50% hate it. I’ve never seen a product so polarizing. I’ve got many other polishes and 3D One is the only one that is this hard to remove.

Wow, yea, definitely different. Never had a hard residue. I’ve had almost the opposite, as it stays too wet...lol

You can't use Speed when your gonna coat the car.

The last time I used speed (which will be the last time period for me), I wiped it dry and the panel was still oily, I wiped it with ONR and the panel was still oily, then I wiped it with undiluted Optimum Power Clean and the panel was still oily, then I used Duplicolor Grease and wax removers and yes... the panel was still oily. I finaly managed to remove all the oil after three wet wiped downs with Duplicolor G&W remover. Never again!

It's a great product to work, doesn't dry on you and does a great job. But if it takes you 15 minutes to remove it from the panel, you could do a 2 step correction in that time instead. I hate the fact Meguiars products dust easilly, but I will take dust over unwipable any day!

What other products are you using for one steps?

One-Step/AIO's depending on if I'm coating or not:

HDSpeed, Meg's D156, Sonax Paint Cleaner, CarPro Essence, & GYEON Primer. Rupes UHS Polish, Meg's 205 and sometimes some other Sonax products, etc. for one step polishes.

My experience with HD One has been an easy wipe off.

Ok Its back in the cart.

Fast Correcting cream is good 1 step, sonax fine abrasive paste 5 on cut 4 on gloss. McKee’s fast compound or what ever it is called. Those are my that I have on I tend to go with a higher cut for one step. 1st pass hard pressure second light. Maybe the 1.5 step would benefit a better finish.

the one thing with 3D products is they give me trouble outside the HD stuff never did

very cool. i have a bottle of this stuff i've been dying to use on my sisters pos. For my times sake I'm just considering topping it with a spray sealant. what'd you go with for a LSP?
