Megs UQW vs Tutle Wax ISW

Hi guys,

I am looking for a drying aid on top of my paint sealant on my daily cheap car, I usually use Bead Maker and it works great and I love its gloss and slickness but honestly its durability sucks, so now I am searching for a spray wax that gives descent durability with nice gloss and I think that I narrow it down to 2 products, Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax (new formula) & Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax.

I understand they will not give much more durability than BM but at least is something different.

Which one of the 2 you guys recomend?

How often do you wash the vehicle?

How often do you apply the BeadMaker?
 
+1 on UQW. Been using it since I ran out of Beadmaker. It's a nice look and has decent durability.

I love Meg's UQW! Plus it can be purchased in a gallon in there Detailer line as synthetic Xpress spray wax D156.
 
Meg's UQW... been using for a few years now. Tried BM and a couple other spray waxes and always went back to UQW. Since I use it every 3-6 weeks (every other wash) after a quick dry, durability hasn't been a concern, or rather has been more than adequate given my routine.

Between my wife and I we have 3 cars so I try to wash every one of them every 2-3 weeks. On this particular car I applied BM on top of Megs UFF on dry surface and after that I apply it as a drying aid every 3-4 washes just to rejuvenate the layer but sometimes I believe that the BM isnt there anymore, most likely this 2 spray waxes are even less durable than BM but its something different to try, maybe I will go back to BM afterwards.

You’re setting unrealistic expectations by only using it every 3-4 washes.
Try using Beadmaker as a drying aid after Every wash and then come back and give us an update.

It takes nearly no effort to spray a wet vehicle prior to drying it, so why not

Based on my experience, BM is not more durable than UQW. Regardless, I agree it’s worth it to use whatever spray you choose after each wash or two if you want durability.
 
Actually there’s been a lot of durability tests and comparisons done on BM on YouTube; unfortunately BM usually doesn’t have good results (iirc).

Also, just a point I’d like to mention, so many use spray waxes as a drying aid, but to me, that only dilutes the product and lessens the effectiveness, especially as far as durability and protection is concerned. I learned my lesson diluting the last 1/4 bottle of BSD I had, if it would be a good product diluted, the companies would sell it that way.

If you want good protection, don’t dilute the good stuff you have. And think about it... it will be used up faster, so you can go out and buy more stuff to try out!

When you say you diluted the last 1/4 of your bottle of BSD, do you mean you actually poured water into the bottle in order to make more? Or did you mean you began using it as a drying aid for the 1st time?

Because comparing the use of a product on a wet vehicle aka as a drying aid cannot be compared to actually diluting a product, especially a product that isn’t meant to be diluted in the 1st place. Not even close, and shouldn’t even be called into comparison.

I personally use Beadmaker as a drying aid after every wash and my car beads like nobody’s business. Not only does it bead, but it’s on its 3rd month of being contaminant free and I’m confident it will go at least an entire year contaminant free and passing a baggie test. I guarantee a long term update. You can count on it.
 
When I am using a "drying aid", it is usually applied on a fairly regular basis and is not meant to offer long-term durability. Durability is coming from whatever wax/sealant/coating I applied initially. The drying aid for me is just assisting with drying and providing an enhanced visual result after a wash. I've been very happy with Megs D156 for this purpose.
