550hp // Auto or Manual Tranny !!!!

orig_09CTS_V011.jpg

I always thought the old ones looked a little too old mannish for me, but looking at the new remodel I must say they are looking incredible. And who can argue with a 550HP caddy.

Hahaha, I was just about to send this to you Scott. Previous V drove great, even better then E39 M5 imo, 09' V is just going to stomp on Audi/Benz/BMW.

I'm seriously contemplating putting a deposit, but I have other stuff going on.....choices choices choices

That's a lot of power packed under the hood!
A detuned LS9 motor they say. Wow! GM!

I really like the interior design and those seats look awesome. I have to wonder though, how much is it going to cost and why did they have to give it so much power (seems a little over kill to me). I guess I just think it adds fuel to the fire of a horse power war that I feel is a little unhealthy. I can understand giving a car more power with each new generation but when they raise the bar so high each time, they're giving them selfs less room to work in the future because then they have to give the newer generation vehicle even MORE power then the already ridiculously-powerful current generation. Having said all that, when can I give it a test drive :D?

That's some breaking news and huge improvement!!!
550 horses, that's a lot!!!
I really hated GM vehicles interior illuminated all in green, reminds me of an old Buick...
Looks like they finally got rid of that!

I hear they "want" to price it below the STS-V (77.9k) in the chain of V cars. That said there is alot of higher priced wares going into this puppy so surely will top the original CTS-V (55K) price tag.

Really beautiful looking Caddy. Priced in the 60s makes it a great value.

WOW!!!
I like to use of the "Box" look and the use of the angles. I wonder who would win, the vette or caddy. I also like how they added the manual to the package. I would love to hear that thing with full open exhaust.

The V always had a manual, new one is adding the 6 speed auto as well from the Vette but blah, they need to strengthen it, Escalade owners are having trouble with the trans blowing early or shifting sloppily, I know some Vette owners blew them as well. Plus flappy paddles are borring :D

09' V is gonna donkey punch the M3/M5, AMG's, and RS series.
the interior has looks from the new malibu.
Actually the Malibu borrowed similar looks from the current CTS. However, looks a little similar but not even close when you sit in both cars, sit in even the regular CTS and the fit/finish and quality and wood is right there with the Germans and Japs high end cars.

If it has more front leg room than the older ones I will look good driving one . the 550 hp is a tiny bit much but I can deal with that as I have driven more horses . Any idea when they will be released ?

That's a bold statement to make for a car that isn't even out yet. It will have more power than the competition but how it fares in every other category won't be fully known until it comes out.

Driven the RS4 it drives like an overweight porker for its size and can't even out handle or out accelerate the previous V, we owned an E55 and I almost bought an E39 M5. I know how well the previous V drove, it drove great even better then the E39 M5. I drove the new CTS and it was excellent driving, have no doubts this new V will be a mean sedan.

The V offering an auto/manual also is a smart thing for GM as it opens the car to additional sales and thus more competitive prices for the masses. GM has been quoted as saying the next Z06 will also offer a manumatic tranny.

As for the flippers in the Vette, most have posted times equal or better than there counterparts. Why ?? Because the shifts are perfect and done in less than a second. Even some of the best manual users miss a shift or fail to engage as quickly. Doing a little tuning to remove Torque Management on these cars also shows quite a bit more power on tap.

I applaud GM for offering choices ....

I know I am going to get smacked for this but, I do not like the exterior at all. Interior on the other hand is awesome! I just never have been a Caddy fan, but I can appreciate the 550 HP. I just have no use for that much, I have a led foot, that car would get me more tickets than I can handle! And I just got one last week with my little V6 so no-no of me!
