Hot Topic - Global warming, climate change and cars...

Notice that gas coming out of tailpipe out of older cars stink, where newer (even Escalade) have catalycs, and are able to burn cleaner.

Bush already said he is not going to accept options that will hurt economy (not a whole lot can be done about factories), so I personally think that taxing olders cars with higher taxes will keep them off the road polluting.

Perhaps another solution will be to modify them with newer catalycs and other necessary accesories so they won't stink.

On a nice Saturday afternoon you spend 1.5 hours mowing your with a gas lawnmower yard and .5 of hour with a gas weed-eater trimming your yard. Then fire up the gas grill and grill a couple medium well done steaks you have caused more green house gas then a 60 era car driving 50 miles. So maybe that what needs to be taxed the lawnmower, weed-eater and grill.

Now you get it? Drive a Smart car like me ;)

I'm too smart to drive that LOL j/k I need/want a v8 rumble. I come from a street racing family, my dad street raced in his 1970 Dodge Charger 440 magnum R/T up and down Tx as did his brothers (in Mopars as well). I just have that urge to drop a gear and disapearrrrrrrrr, it's genetics :D

When Mt. St. Helen erupted it but out more greenhouse gasses the all cars have since the creation of the automobile. We should outlaw volcanoes IMO and don't worry about the cars.
:iagree:
IMO global warming is hog wash. It was global cooling back in the 70s...

Wytstang, Have you seen (Mr. Norm's GSS), I wish i had one.Im the MAN

I agree some of the older cars are causing some pollution but how many of those older cars are still running as many miles a day as the new cars . As was stated earlier the cars are not the problem for global warming as compared to all the factories , refineries and other polluting situations
As far as older cars being taxed heavily that is unfair to those that can not afford it . Some have to drive to older cars to get to work because they are not at the top of the income catagories . I will put my OLD 1978 chevrolet p/u up against most any late model vehicle to compare pollution numbers .
My old 1971 Buick GSX ( 1 of 124 made ) will still stay with me and road worthy , another vehicle to take the pollution test .

Yes, I would love one I'd give my house for one lol. There an interview on youtube with him explaining how the GSS started.
