does anyone keep a jump starter in their vehicle(s)?

Yes!

I've had a "Porta Jump" for years. I bought it at Meijers. I do need a replacement cord though. Maybe I'll have a look at the one you posted, Visitor.

I also keep a small, portable air compressor and extra fuses in the car too.

hi dan, there are a lot of different brands that will work just as well. dbpower, gooloo, to name a few...

Thanks!

I need a new one as it is. I'll check them out.

I have a Duracell jump starter and use it often. One of my cars battery jeeps draining every week if I don’t use it so I keep it in that car cause you never know. I believe my drain is due to my headlights so ai will be fixing that this winter.

would be a great gift this holiday season!

I bought one back when this thread came up and this returning to the top reminded me to check the battery level in it as it's useless if not charged. The battery went from 100% to 97% in the time it's been in my trunk, not bad at all. I guess I can wait another few months before checking again.

you should be good for at least 3 months (if not in use) before having to charge it again. you already know but keeping it at the battery level suggested in the manual is best. if mine gets into the 80 percentage range I charge mine. it's normal for it to slowly discharge over time...

I have a recurring reminder on my phone to top mine off every 3 months. I've used it once and had charged it back up on the day I needed it. Then I charged it again after I used it. It actually took longer to charge it from being in my car for a few months than it did from using it.

Thanks for the reminder....have it on calendar now for recharge April 1st

I do something similar. I write the day I charge it so I can get an idea of how long before I need to charge again. I keep a post it note with that info in the case along with charger...

The problem with that Allen, is remembering to open the case and check. Wouldn't it be better to use your smart phone under reminders?

I bought it May 12 and charged as soon as it arrived, a day or two after that. It lost 3% in about 6 months.

This is the one I bought: Amazon.com

Get a CTek battery charger and keep the battery charged.

Certainly a good idea.

That said, I have had a few customer cars go flat while I have been working on them, so a jumper is still a good thing to have, mine saved the day on those occasions.

Which reminds me, I should go and charge it up. :xyxthumbs:

Used it again today. We were almost home with the dogs and saw a truck pull to the side of the road at a 4-way stop. His truck died and he didn't realize there was a ditch on the side of the road. I came back with the jump starter. We were able to get it started and he got it back out of the ditch. Seemed like it may have been an alternator issue so I'm not sure how far he was going to get. He had about 2 miles to get where he was going.

I had been looking at the Noco boosters and bought one for each car on Black Friday. The big A had them $75 off so I bought 3 of the Noco GBX 75s. Also bought 3 of the Milwaukee M12 inflators for the cars so we are good for at least some emergencies.

went to the recycling center this morning and as i got out of the car and started to open the trunk, some lady came out of the market next door and asked if i had jumper cables (she was on her way to church). i grabbed the jump starter and went over to her car, hooked it up and her car (old blazer) started right up. the look on her face.. priceless. she happily thanked me and went on her way...

p.s. had her take a picture of the one i was using and told her she could find them down the nile...
