Well I got my new pc today, but there is one problem. My backing plate broke, yes! When I was using it, it started fine (rotating) but then it would not rotate when placed over the car. Did I tight it too much? There is also like a small round thing where does that goes?

The small round thing, is that a washer? If so, it goes between the backing plate and pc shaft.

Take it back apart and put the spacer on(small ring thing), then backing plate and tighten nut to hold both on. You have jammed the plate up against the tool.

the small ring goes between the backing plate and the slug? to prevent direct contact with the backing plate and the PC?

Looks like it. What size/ brand is your BP?

I've got a question too. I got the UDM instead of the PC and my backing plate was already installed. Am I good to go or do I need to adjust or do something to it before I use it for the first time?

Put on a pad and have at it. :buffing:

my PC when I put it at 6 it start shaking real hard, I noticed that this is why my BP broke. It almost happened again with my new BP, I must used it at 5 and I have the spacer

How did you get a new BP so quickly?

Sometimes I wish my pc would die, I've dropped it in water, on the ground many times, nothin'. Putting it to scrub work won't even break this tool.

Marchese- I wouldnt use the PC on level 6. Level 6 is going to vibrate and shake alot no matter what. I never run my PC above 5 EVER for this reason and because the polish dries way too fast and doesnt give you enough time to work the polish. Also- I dont have a washer on my PC and it works fine.

A rotary creates friction and the heat generated from the friction gets directed right down onto the paint. A PC is the opposite, the friction geneates heat and that heat goes straight up into the backing plate. If the pad does not freely spin it is either because the pad isn't flat on the surface, you are applying way too much pressure or there is an increase in friction due to the missing spacer. So if one of these three things occured while using the PC, is most likely the cause of the BP failure. It looks to be that the BP heated up a lot, softened a little and the threading came out.

^ That is very true- when I change pads on my PC I always notice the backing plate is extremely hot.
