I dont even like football, but my whole life, cause of where I live, all I hear from locals and friends is gator this and gator that, and I am sick of hearing it. For 35 yrs where I worked it was unbearable. So the best days for me are when the gators loose-- it gets a lot quieter around these parts!! I will say though my brother in law is from Kentucky and a big UK fan

One of my employees is a Gator fan and he is rather obnoxious. I just hope UT beats them when they play in 2 weeks.
 
I don't have a clue what your original post means but we lived in Lexington KY for 2 years, 92-94, and I was amazed how total strangers would chat me up standing in line at the store or gas station asking me "what did you think of the game last night?"

The first few times I said "what game" or something similar and got the look of death

I quickly learned to just say something non committal but excited like "oh boy, wouldn't have missed that for the world" and hope that was enough

Those people were crazy

I don't even remember what it was commemorating but Maker's Mark bourbon came out with a run of bottles dipped in UK blue wax rather than their traditional red and the town went berserk

It was like toilet paper during covid, fist fights in the isles of the stores trying to get the limited edition bottles

I don't drink and I don't do sports so the whole situation was way over my head
 
College football is a religion in the south and they are devoted.
 
Was never devoted to sports, but used to watch some here and there. Mostly now if anything its the local hockey team. but gave up on everything else after the woke pc police injected themselves into it all. Such a disapointment.

I played sports in school and then when I was done I was done

Had I followed sports all that take a knee during the National Anthem crap would have done it for me

“Poor me, I make a million dollars a year tossing a ball around, I am so downtrodden”

This might get me kicked off the site but I’m sick of it all too

College sports in the deep south are on another level as far as popularity-- and thats not a good thing.
Way to many people go overboard with them. Unfortunately for me I live in an area not that far from uf-- these people have their priorties way out of whakkk- to many of these wack jobs have an allegiance to a CFB team & is more important than friends and even @ times family. They got more money than sense and some are in the lower income bracket-- so you know where that leaves them on sense. The thing about uf though is I always hear fans of other teams say that they dont mind or even like a different team-- not uf, I have never heard anyone with an allegiance to another team say they dont mind the gators-- EVERYONE hates the gators, and their fan base

OK-- so I will decipher it for you and others. First of it was meant to mock gator fans, their idiot low iq coach and their woke foolish institution that they have such an un dying passion for

Going down means that they lost -- and a game that they all just KNEW they were gonna win

The self proclaimed swamp is a mocking shot at their smart azz wrinkled up over the hill coach from days gone by who coined that name for their home football facility ( normally others out of respect do that- well nobody respects them so they had to do it themselves )

AR-15 is the idiotic term that the new generation of young football fans now refer to players by ( first & last initials then their jersey # )-- makes them think that they are cool by referring to them that way-- so when they get in a group of people they start throwing this silly azz abbreviation around and their friends know but when others dont have a clue -- they get to inform them - and elevate themselves ( in their mind anyway ) in the process. So for the last year and a half if I have heard AR-15 once- I have heard it eleventy zillion times-- maybe more - that he is the second coming of the greatest QB ever-- he's gonna win the heisman two or three times
