I must be living under a rock. This popped up on my Amazon suggested items - door jamb handle.
Basically a small piece of material with circles (finger cutouts) that you stick to you door so you close the door this way via pushing on the front panel.

I must be missing something. I generally close the doors by holding the palm of my hand on the edge and just give it a good -push-
I still need to use the handle to open the door.

Is Jamb Handles really some in the detailing nerds arsenal....I can't see how as a detailing nerd, I would use this in form or function.

Sounds like a great invention. I see chipped paint on A Pillars often. It's caused by wedding rings when people are shutting the door. they screw up leather steering wheels too.

Makes the most sense for woman. since they wear allot more rings. I suppose men's wedding ring could cause a nick. But don't feel under a rock! I had to do a search to figure WTH it was.

I'm going to look at these from the opposite perspective of the previous two posts. I too had to google them to see what they were... Never heard of them before.

Here's my opinion... These things scream "gimmick" to me.

If you can't figure out, or simply don't care, how to open and close a car door without scratching the paint, then you need more help than these will likely provide.

I never bothered to google what this contraption was but assumed it was something to protect the A pillar/door. From your description I must have been wrong.

You don't see alot of cars with painted A Pillars these days, but back in the day it was very common to see chips on the A Pillars. I would get asked often by customers "what is causing this"? I hadn't a clue until one day I witnessed a customer slam their door by grabbing the A Pillar with their left hand  It had nothing to do with them being stupid imo

No one has ended up closing the door on their fingers?

I have :surrender:

To paraphrase Brad Pitt's character, Lt. Aldo Rain in the movie "Inglorious Basterds":

"We in the selling gimmicks to the stupid business. And brother, business is a boomin'........"

I think it was designed by someone with severe OCD who are afraid to leave fingerprints on their door. Growing Up, the neighbor with a 66 Galaxie would have loved those.

I have no idea what you’re describing and I sure as heck ain’t gonna do a search to find out… But it sure in the hell doesn’t sound like anything that’s attached onto what I consider door jambs.

If the title says “door jambs” then why is everyone talking about protecting B pillars? I’m more OCD about that than I am about protecting the door jambs or the pillars. Lol.

This is a doorjamb. If anyone’s dumb enough to get their wedding ring stuck in there or somehow slam their door while their hand is in there, then they deserve it. Lol.

This is a 'jam handle'

Doesn't seem very functional. You have to use the handle to open the door anyway. And you aren't closing the door by grabbing that.

Thanks.^
It was late, and I guess I hadn’t really thought about that part of the door being the doorjamb.

Totally agree.^ It’s almost like including the handle on your DA polisher and expecting people to actually use it.

If anyone’s ever going to accidentally slam the door on their hand, it’ll be by using that thing.

Wish I had never responded to this thread in the first place having no idea what I was talking about. Lesson learned

I kinda feel the same way, except I’m too lazy to re read it again and learn a lesson. Lol

All I know is that handle looks like something nobody would use.
If anything, it looks like something that could lead to people hating the person who expects his passengers to actually use it.

Can you imagine that guy who constantly reminds everyone who steps in this car about the proper way to close his door?

I'm that guy:D

If my truck is clean, which it usually is, and you put fingerprints all over the door or glass, you're going to hear about it.

I remember being on a first date (a while ago) and the girl put her purse on the deck lid of my car... Date over.

I hope you left her in the bad part of town, John............

I hope it was an expensive purse....and you booted it across the road.

This way she understands what she just did to your trunk lid (f'd it up) lol

Yeah, but then she'd have nothing for the would-be assailants to target.

Put your F'n thinking cap on, dammit.......
