Headliner disaster...suggestions?

Wifes friend asked how to clean her headliner in her kia sorrento. Her husband made an ooopsies and let their little ones have a chocolate milk, made with hershey chocolate. Im not equipt for such a scene. I would imagine a steamer/extractor would be needed?

If so id just reccomend taking to a pro detail shop.

Wow, that's like a perfect arc, maybe you could even it up a little and it would look like part of the interior design?

Seriously though, you've got to be really careful not to get headliners too wet or too hot or you'll delaminate them (not speaking from personal experience, just being a member here for a long time). Is it furry soft or one of the more substantial ones?

Haha good idea on interior design.

Im not sure of how it feels, I have not layed eyes on it personally. Thanks for the helpful info!

Weekend warrior here but enzyme pre treat and extract ....my favorite exterior wand for fine upholstery like the Sapphire wand. It minimizes water due to the design. Stain aside....u wanna deal with it the smell that is about to give off
 
At least its not blood.

I would use a steamer but you can try lightly spraying with stain remover and lightly rubbibg with brush and towel.

Using a steamer on a headliner is a little risky IMO.

Yeah its a tough job. Usually when I see this type of stain it is blood. I pre-treat blood with hydrogen peroxide then steam.

Vapor Chief has videos of headliner steaming on their youtube channel.
 
I can't help with a solution as I find headliners rather intimidating due to all the potential for something to go wrong.

However, I am truly in awe of the kids work! They not only managed to spray the chocolate milk across the entire width of the roof, but it looks to be in an almost perfectly straight line!
