Stumbled upon this video today of Reggie from Labo talking about the removal of PFAS (forever chemicals) from their product line (1:00 min mark). I detail as a hobby so I'm not overly concerned about coming in contact with chemicals. But for those doing this daily, how much of a risk factor are these chemicals? Wearing gloves and maybe a face mask is probably a good idea in general.

On a daily basis, how many of us come in contact with PFAS anyway?

We all come in contact with them on a daily basis, they are used in food packaging, etc.

I was just messaging with a Ph.D chemist about this a few weeks ago, his take is that the primary concern is the environmental persistence (which I guess includes persistence in the human body), but he said there don't seem to be any links (yet) to harm to humans, but "we don't know what we don't know". I'll qualify this by saying he works in pharma on the manufacturing end, so I don't know what his level of expertise is on this subject.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback on this. (y)

Just to quickly elaborate on this, PFAS etc (many varieties and similar compounds) are used to coat paper plates and food packaging to prevent liquids and oils from soaking in. These compounds get discharged in the wastewater from the plants and are not removed as part of the sewage treatment process, which is part of the reason the EPA has created drinking water standards for these perfluorinated compounds.

Also the plants that make Teflon, etc. have a history of polluting the surrounding groundwater, etc. Not sure if you can find this on the internet, but about 20 years ago I read an article that 3M had changed the active ingredient in ScotchGard because they had found that ingredient in the blood of every person they tested, worldwide, even people on sparsely populated Pacific islands where they had never heard of ScotchGard. They didn't know if it was harmful, but given how widespread it was they decided they should stop using that ingredient.

Here's something from Wiki: 3M reformulated Scotchgard and since June 2003 has replaced PFOS with perfluorobutanesulfonic acid (PFBS). PFBS has a much shorter half-life in people than PFOS (a little over one month vs. 5.4 years). 3M now states that Scotchgard utilizes a proprietary fluorinated urethane.

If i was doing this as a career, i would be more worried about the nasty crud some folks leave in thier interiors.

I think ive mentioned this before in another thread many moons ago but...
The question i would ask more importantly is-

what type of deoderant does one use..aluminum free? What about soaps/facewash,food, drinks, any Contain Red dye 40 and all those goodies?
Fruits covered in appeel?

Fluoride free toothpaste?
Got city water..do you filter it first?
Drink bottled water that has sat out in the sun?

Take a statin for "high colesterol"?

And yes i will say it..take any vaccines? Just in general.

There is so much out there that lots of folks use and injest everyday that are more harmful, and i would personally be more worried about.

Just some food for thought. Before anyone just dismisses anything ive listed, i emplore you to do some research. Just dont use g00gle because it will filter and be bias.

Yes, there's plenty of other stuff to worry about, pesticides, all the x-rays and CT scans that seem to be done willy-nilly, gasoline is full of carcinogens (benzene, etc.). Not to mention all the skin cancers out there from sun exposure.

Another little tidbit--I found out that grapes, raisins (dried grapes), balsamic vinegar (grape must) can have very high levels of arsenic. How did that get in there? At first I found that grape vines may selectively pull arsenic out of the soil more than some other plants...but how did arsenic get in the soil? Seems there are a lot of cotton fields here in the US which had no use after we stopped making clothes in this country, which killed the demand for fabric, which killed the demand for cotton. So they planted food crops in those cotton fields....where for decades they grew cotton...treated with arsenical pesticides. Then I dug a little more and found that arsenical pesticides were used on FOOD crops until the 60's, when things like that and DDT got cracked down on.

Thats interesting stuff there Sect.

Whats really been bugging me is this 5g. Really makes me wonder. This stuff runs on a different frequency than prior.

Never have i had hand pain from a phone after a short time spans of use, no matter how i may hold it. I very rarely carry it on my person anymore. Also feel this pain sensation arrive at the site of where my phone would be on me. This might sound a little crazy but its like my body is telling me to get this thing away from my body.

Ive been staying away from using bluetooth as well, especially earbuds.

Anybody else ever experience anything similar?

Also what the hell is up with some of these purple street lights ive came across?? They really make it hard to see

One of my friends has a wife that is convinced that she suffers terribly from 5G exposure and even buys special clothing that supposedly can filter out 5G signals (yes, it's a thing, who knew)

They moved way out to the country where there are no towers and she won't travel with him

I am certainly not going to second guess her

Chilly, I hear that tin foil is real good at keeping the 5G from getting to your brain, feel free to share that with your friend.

PS They also say we are driving the whales crazy with all the noise we make in the ocean, so maybe she's right.

I have read stories about the towers making some folks sick. Also have read the cancer rates and other health problems are higher in folks that live close to the towers. If you deep dive on the subject it does make you question alot of things. Why hasnt the fcc updated regulations in so many years?

Whatever they are not talking about is what we should be concerned about.

Aluminum foil is actually not good to use with food.
Ive read about the whales too.

This popped up on a local news site. Apparently "Big Chemical" have their own social network, it's invite only, and they share tactics and dirt files on problem people. Think names like Monsanto, Bayer, BASF, Corteva, and Syngenta. I have to admit I've only heard of 3 of them, but I'm not surprised they'd be doing something like this.

A huge part of the Hawaiian Island of Molokai, where we had a condo and a home, was leased by Monsanto for use as a testing area for their soy bean seed hybridization research, as well as other GMO food crops, and many of their pesticides, herbicides, etc

They were the largest employer on the island

The Anti GMO people on Maui raised so much fuss about GMO, despite the fact that the island of Maui had almost zero agriculture left, and got the Anti GMO on a ballot some years back and that passed, shutting down Monsanto's research, because Molokai is part of Maui County, as is the island of Lanai

Bayer bought out Monsanto and as far as I know is still running some of the agricultural experimentation but I have no idea what they are testing

Both Dole and DelMonte used to grow pineapples on the west end but that stopped decades ago and they left so much contamination in the soil and groundwater that the cancer rate on the west end is many times higher than the remainder of the island
